Yes the stress is real, transport and then getting my mind right to walk into work! My body by the end of the work day is rigid. The need to decompress daily is real, so that return transport home is very much needed before reaching my home, just so I don’t bring that negative energy around my family.

I want to do remote work in a different field of work. Something that maybe doesn't require me to be attached to a phone. I retired early from State Farm as a claim specialist. I worked there 35 years!

Govt Agencies and Govt Contractors won't allow u to work outside the US! I'm re-training in IT so I can get a remote job with no geographic boundaries.

I've been working from home since 2021 when I quit. The conversation around minute 1:25:00 really reminded me of all the reasons why I had to leave. Toxic environments are a real thing in the workplace. I never regret leaving and prioritizing my own needs.

Great conversation. About federal government jobs: From what I understand, the people who work abroad are usually with the Department of State or another agency that provides regular services in countries. For other agencies, there are usually security safeguards that prevent employees from using government devices outside of the U.S. without an exemption, e.g., needing to travel for a meeting, conference, or special assignment. Also, federal employees have limitations on location within the U.S. because of geographic locality pay.

I'm a PA. Consider a hybrid model. I'll be living abroad half time and in the states the other half. I plan to work a 3-month contract job in the States and use that money to invest and live while abroad. There are some foundational things I've done to make this possible. I'm also launching my own health consulting business. Think outside the box! We can do this.
