This is the second trip I made into the Three Ponds region to explore potential fly fishing spots in New Hampshire. In this trip I hiked to Upper Pond following Brown Brook, checking out the potential for waterfalls and beaver ponds for native brook trout.

Have been fishing those ponds for 35 to 40 years, try to get there at least once a year. Camped at the site near Upper Pond many times including with my kids when they were young, many years ago. Thanks for the video, sure brings back memories.

I found some interesting camping spots at Upper Pond worth checking out. And I really think Upper pond needs to be better explored. I never did publish Part 3 as it consisted of some drone shots and became concerned over the right to show these as this area is part of the White Mountains where it may not be legal to fly drones ....bottom line, the area has a lot of potential and a lot more areas to explore.

Wonderful video. Some things I’ve noticed when you were casting in that pond you’re rod tip was a little bit too high just pointing it out. And if you ever decide to go again, I will make you some Gartside hoppers that will blow your mind. Mind you give me a months notice before you decide to go because it’s gonna take me some time to tie those up.

Thank you Scott! You’re dam right my tip was high. I was standing on this beaver dam and my first cast snagged and got tangled up in these gnarly bushes covering the outlet stream behind me. Plus the rod I was using was a 7 footer (or maybe smaller - I would have to check). I don’t remember every time I snag something, but I remember that snag. I love using hoppers to investigate if there are trout in a pool or stream. It’s like the old saying, “when in doubt, woolly bugger them out”, except more fun as the action is on the surface. That said I tie most of my own flies, but had not heard of Gartside hopper. I had to look it up. It’s a real beauty! Just looking at it you know it’s going to catch trout. I don’t have a pheasant skin, so I welcome your offer to tie one up for me and will give you a call out and send you a the link for the video where I fish it….and take all the time you need as hopper season is still several months off. I can be reached at sjchiggins@gmail.com if your offer is still good. Best, Steve

I have watched both part 1 and 2 a few times recently. My family and I fished all 3 ponds. We carried a 14’ aluminum canoe from the parking lot at Stinson Lake up the stream trail to fish the ponds and back down after fishing. We tied our own flies. As remember the the first pond was left of the trail shown in the video. The shelter was on the 3d pond. I’m in my late 70’s now. I have on my bucket list to fly in by helicopter with a canoe and fish the ponds again.

I hope it brought back many good memories. I never did find the 1st pond. Part I of fishing Three Ponds is where I spent time at the shelter overlooking Middle Pond to wait out the rain. The first pond on the left in this video is the north end of Middle Pond. Here is a good reference www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/whitemountain/recarea/?recid=74743

is is fly fish only in the white mountains ponds ?
@RemoteFlyFishing
@RemoteFlyFishing 2 жыл бұрын
@@fishingnh4543 There's no absolute rule. You have to check the NH Fishing Regulations as rules will be different based on a pond's designation including in the White Mountains. Here's link to the NH Fish and Game fresh water regualtion booklet: www.eregulations.com/assets/docs/guides/21NHFW_VLR3.pdf

Have you ever fished a buggmeister fly pattern? They are an incredibly surface attractor pattern. Great video thank you for sharing, tight lines sir!

Yep, I just drove 4 days to Livingston, MT to fish and film a few rivers out here that have been on my bucket list for sometime: Madison, Firehole, Henry's Fork. Got new film gear and hopefully catch the Salmonfly hatch tomorrow.

Hi, the video you're referring to is known as Three Ponds in Ellsworth, NH. Crawford Notch area: Sacco River headwaters, Ellis River, and if you don't mind a short hike from the Wiley Station Raod parking lot check out Ethan Pond, one of the headwaters for the East Branch of the Pemigewasset River

You might want to work on your HOOKSET!
@RemoteFlyFishing
@RemoteFlyFishing 3 жыл бұрын
There are many factors involved. For starters, I pinch the barbs off my hooks to not harm the trout since I am releasing them. Probably one of the most common reasons is that the fish biting my line are small little bait fish and the hook is too large. I do carry a hook sharpener and use it frequently. And yes, sometimes I simply miss setting the hook.
