Super. My railroad has quite a few Athearn Blue Box locomotives that have had or will be celebrating their 50th birthday on my pike, including three EMD SD9s. They run great, inside or outside, and now have a nice patina of natural weathering on the paint job from decades of hard use and operation, and also the effects of the sun, rain, dirt, and snow, that makes them look very realistic. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N.

I use silicone sealant to mount all my replacement can motors.

If that works for you, I say go for it. This is just another option available and one I find easy to use.

Am working same engine ( different shell ) right now. Got cleaned and lubed and started reassembly. Am now waiting to see what you do with the LED lights ( supposedly in the second video ) to get an idea of what I might do, other than what I planned. Stay tuned - am now trying to get two F-7s to run together ( one engine running the same direction as the front engine - only backwards ) to create a true A-B-B-A consist with both "A" units powered. I do have old Model Power powered "B" unit, but painted the different paint scheme from, say Milw Road or C & NW. Just sos you know, my small layout ( 6 X 6 ) is "DC"!!! I am tooo old to try to learn DCC.

I am planning on doing LED installation in part 2 (or 2 5 if it is too long). I will be wiring in a decoder in the last part. For DC I would use an LED wired so the positive is connected to the position rail when the engi e is moving forward.

Most of the stuff you are showing us is either off cam or way over to the far bottom right of the camera view...

Yes I know, that unfortunately is a result of working in tight quarters and poor eyesight. I try to keep things in camera as much as possible. Thank you for watching.
