I just narrowly avoided this procedure. Two days ago, my urologist and I agreed to let several more days to pass to see if the stone would pass, or if not, we would move along with the procedure. The next day, after the appointment with the urologist, it finally decided to move out of my left ureter and leave my body. Since it was only 2 mm, I didn’t really feel it leave, but the lack of pain and discomfort are so nice.

@cultistaautista8 ай бұрын
Really, your urologist considered this for a max size of 2mm? It's usually 4mm where the real trouble begins and even up to 5mm ones have been noted to pass themselves. That's what my doctor told me at least. My ultrasound found multiple 2mm ones - flushed them with electrolytes and green tea (couldn't sleep for a week or so but eventually saw what looked like tiny ground black pepper grains and the symptoms quickly disappeared).

@@wakarsheikh9703 Just had mine removed today - when it comes to blasting the stone (ureteroscopy) they put you under general anesthesia, so you will be entirely unconscious during the procedure, you won’t feel any pain. It’s about 30 mins, and after which if they use a stent, it can be pretty uncomfortable. As a female it feels like period cramps from hell, but I’m not sure what the sensation could be described as for males. @@ravalikola721 5 mm. Apparently there’s like a 60% chance that you can pass one of that size on your own, depends on the person of course, but anything bigger than that you’d probably need to have it blasted / removed surgically.

An 8mm kidney stone, turned out to be a life altering experience. A surgeon put stent on the WRONG kidney, sent me home with NO care to the affected kidney. I was septic with bloody urine then sick for 6 months solid 24-7 because a nearby clinic PA kept me on a non-stop two month regimen of antibiotics, killing off all good bacteria in my gut, setting me up for a C-Diff infection. I was deathly ill 3 times before a university kidney hospital got involved. By all accounts, I should have died. The kidney hospital was horrified. The Dr and clinic that did this to me? Not one shred of accountability. The state medical commission is comprised of drs and nurses which protects the industry, not victims. After that, I'd rather die in a ditch than trust drs.

Just recovered from this. First time, woke up to Dr. telling me she couldn’t remove the stone because there was too much scar tissue. And it was in the wrong place for soundwave treatment. But having stent in for the weekend was not fun. Tons of pain meds not helpful. Peed constantly.

You will have blood in your urine in a couple of days and it is painful when you pee, make sure you drink a lot of water to help clear out your urine. Right now, I have a stent inside and doctor told me that it needs to stay there for 3 mos. The stent inside is not that painful, it only hurts when you pee and a cold compress may help you with that.

@@satindersingh3838 concerning recovery -when the stent was removed 10 days later , I felt immediate relief and was able to urinate without any problem . Remember it was my experience and I had one of the best doctors in NYC -Dr Shah , urologist , NYC Presbtyrian Hospital located in Manhattan -@ 168th street in Broadway . Research him via KZbin . Good luck

I wonder why they didn't use Lithotripsy to break up the stone. No surgery for that procedure.

When I had stent in before lithotripsy it hurt really bad when I urinated. I ended up finding relief from peeing pain when I laid on my bed on one side and peed into a plastic container and had no pain. Lithotripsy didn't work and had this procedure in video about 5 years ago. I now have a small stone sitting in kidney and hope it drops soon before getting any bigger.
