This video just saved me $200. My mechanic quoted me $250 to replace the motor. I bought one online for $50 and installed it in less than 20 minutes following the instructions in this video. I am not a mechanic or gear head by any stretch of the imagination. The only hard part was reaching in to unscrew the 3 hex head screws to release the old motor and mount the new ones. I didn't have a 5.5mm socket, so I used 7/32in and it worked. Thank you!!!

Thank you kindly for this video. It gave me the confidence to saved myself considerable money, after being told by local garages that they wouldn't install customer supplied parts. Instead they quoted me a blower for almost twice what I had already already paid for the same model, from Rock Auto.

Lol thanks David Manishewitz ! You know that is one of the thoughts I had as I cruise through repair videos. I tell ya even if I did this for a hobby it would be one of my first investments. They are actually quiet cheap for a DIY type one. The ones we use here in the shop are obviously a bit better quality. Thanks for watching and thanks for the sub!

Hey, I normally don't comment but this one rated it. First of all concise and to the point. While I could figure it out, this saved a bunch of time and was spot on. Second, my fan motor AND resistor failed BUT I also had the cracked fan like yours. This seems to be a common fault on these units. Third, I found the parts on Amazon for 70 buck for BOTH parts!! Finally, I liked your honesty with your customer! GREAT Work!!

@@winowmak3r gave out as in stopped working completely or was squealing/ vibrating? Mine is intermittent, sometimes fan doesn’t work at all then next time I start the car it’s on. Going to try a $30 used blower motor and see if it changes. At first I thought maybe it’s a fuse or something, then it came back to life for a bit. Have to sort this before it gets too cold to swap it myself!

Hey Eric, Video was great and I think with your tutorial I can handle this project with no worries. I think this may be the solution to my Vibes AC problem but, I wanted to get your opinion on my specific issue. Initially the blower motor would shut off whenever I hit a bump in the road and restart after hitting another. Now, it seems it needs bigger bumps to re-engage the blower motor and I've even started banging on the dash (out of frustration) and that seems to restart the motor, sometimes. Does this sound like a bad blower motor or could it be a problem in the electrical connections? Thanks.
@SouthMainAuto9 жыл бұрын
Martin Murn Great diagnosis haha! Yes definitely sounds like a bad motor to me. You can test it to be sure but that is what it sounds like. The whack on the blower test is sometimes a good one. If you end up needing parts check in my description box. It is the best place to buy factory parts IMO!

@nikitanugent71656 жыл бұрын
Thanks, this made the job real easy. When I've removed my glove compartment I don't bother removing the screw for the damper. the other end of the damper pops off of its mounting point pretty easily, and isn't bad to reinstall, either. So that can save you a whopping 20 seconds. Of course it figures that I cleaned my throttle body at the same time, and then had a heart attack when the engine refused to start. Of course the ECU was throwing a dozen unrelated codes about various circuits being open, as one of the plugs going into the ECU had come unseated when I moved it out of the way to get to the blower motor. D'oh!

I was looking for the blower motor resistor and spotted it in your video. lost all lower speeds except Full on high. had a hard time finding it. thanks
@aliced75054 жыл бұрын
Son of a gun - that resistor must be the problem on my Honda Accord EX. Maybe. I thought there's something called an actuator on passenger side that controls fan setting. Left side controls vent door driver's side bottom. A few months ago, or last winter, the blower got stuck on high. Will have to rewatch this. (On this pg for my friend's matrix problem.) And I'll have to find an accord ex video for that setting. Might be what you pointed out.
