Please use a warm compress on his chin next time! My cat has dealt with chin acne over the years. You can soothe pustule inflammation with warm water compresses to help promote healing. I also recommend a gentle cleansing of the affected area twice daily with a mild soap, benzoyl peroxide, chlorhexidine, or antiseborrheic shampoo, which will help flush out the hair follicles. When you use a flea comb on his dry chin it can be quite painful. I know you’re trying your best! I hope I didn’t come off as condescending.

I saw from your other comments that this has improved but next time it would be better to shave the chin or trim the fur down with a small pair of scissors. That will keep the scabs from getting stuck in it. If it comes back trim the fur and then clean the area with alcohol or one of those acne treatment pads like Stridex. Afterwards apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment that is safe for pets. My oldest boy has chronic acne and I've worked with cats for 10 years.

Please don't hurt your cat like this. Wash the acne with warm water and diluted face wash until its clear, or gently wipe with witch hazel on cotton wool to clear the grease and soothe soreness. Clean the area regularly so it doesn't get into the state where you are tearing at scabs like this. Be gentle. See your vet. Soap and water. Rinse well. She won't get cold just from having her chin scrubbed, so don't worry (read in above comment that was a concern of yours) Make sure you're using stainless steel or glass bowls, and wash them daily if you're able. Otherwise, at least weekly. Plastic harbors bacteria and some cats are sensitive to ceramic You can use stridex pads, but good old Soap and water works great when used daily during a breakout. It will clear up fast

My cat gets these too. Rubbing with the hard metal can cause irritation and possibly worse acne. That's what happened with my kitty. This happened to my cat. After several months of seeing different Doctor's. I found this wonderful Doctor Vet Clinic. He told me to stop feeding the cats in any plastic bowls, cups. This is just insane. I only recently realized feline acne was an issue. My entire family are considered cat people. I have owned several myself over the years. I currently have 5, oldest is 15 yrs and youngest is 2 yrs. 3 of them were strays brought in and 2 adopted from newborn litters. I swear I have never seen anything like this on any feline pet in my own home to the dozens owned by family (very large family) and friends. With the hundreds of vet visits over the years, I have never heard a mention of pet acne from vets to the many friends and my large feline loving family. Asking my family and friends, majority were all like well yeah. Skin on any animal is porous like ours. But yet confirming this, all of them said the same, never had an issue with it or seen even a small case of break out let alone blackheads. Seeing this just blows my mind.

If there is anything sticking to an animals fur you should either use olive oil or a warm compress to loosen the foreign substance. Aww, poor bab... :( I hope his face heals. My cousin has a Sphinx cat who used o suffer terrible chin acne, and it improved dramatically when she switched her from a small plastic bowl to a large ceramic one. Something about plastic helping spread oils? I think also the larger opening also helped her not have to rub her chin against the bowl when she eats.

Yes, many people said, plastic bowls will cause them allergy. I changed their bowls from stainless steel to ceramic, then she is ok!

Did you take your cat to the vet? My cat also had acne but I took her to the vet before it got even worse. They told me to give her prednisolone and her codition started to get better after a week, it's been almost 3 weeks of treatment now. So I just want to say to anybody reading this please TAKE YOUR CAT TO THE VET before it's too late. Acne infections might not kill them but can give them serious problems that'll make them be in pain. Our cats do not deserve that. More importantly, we have a responsibility for them as owners, we should always have that in mind.

Use stainless steel or ceramic bowls only. Ensure they are thoroughly washed every day. Wash the chin with antiseptic antifungal cat safe shampoo every day. Before brushing him, the brush must be very very clean, washed thoroughly and wiped with alcohol.

do not use plastic food and water dishes they are the main cause of cat acne. replace them with stainless steel or ceramic dishes. using that comb only scrapes the surface off. just like acne in people the majority of it is under the skin.

There are a lot of oils that you can't put on cats because their liver can't metabolize them fast enough and it will poison them.

Try switching to all ceramic or glass bowls. It harbors less bacteria than porous plastic. Stainless steel is good too.

I've had cats with chin acne. I had good success with a daily wipe of the chin using a q-tip dipped in peroxide. It takes a few days, but it really helped. Just like people, all cats are different so this won't work on all cats.

You should get yourself a pair of beard clippers and shave the hair away. Your cat seems like it would tolerate clippers. This will help you get down to the skin in order to clean. Also if you are using plastic as feed or water bowls you need to change to metal or ceramic

Ok for cat chin zits, 1. get steel bowls for their food and water. 2. Get apple cider vinegar 3. get cotton balls. 4. get Dawn dishwashing liquid. 5. Get a Finger nail brush. 6. Dress in heavy layers 7. bring cat into bathroom and close the door. 8. clip your cats nails. 9. taking cat by the scruff of the neck, wash his chin in hot water and dawn dishwashing liquid making sure that you make a nice sudsy lather.. Dawn dishwashing liquid has very drying qualities. You will notice this on your hands if you use it to wash dishes. 10. Rinse all dish soap from the cat's chin. 11. get the Cotton balls and soak them in the Apple Cider vinegar and swab his chin with the cotton balls. (it has astringent qualities and will help dry his zits. It is also edible unlike other astringent medicine made for humans. Keep in mind that you don't lick your face so it doesn't matter if the astringent medication you use on your face is edible or not. Repeat until his zits clear up.

Shave the chin with warm, soapy water. Then scrub with a very soft babies tooth brush. Use antibacterial soap and finish with a warm, damn cloth as many times as it takes to remove all the gunk and crust. And finally, a little Clearasil is ok if the acne smells or is very sore. The last thing, and this is a must, only let kitty eat out of glass bowls. Wash them daily. When a cat goes in to eat, they slide their chin over the front of the bowl. Bacteria gathers there, and pretty soon you have layer upon layer of bacteri. Shave Scrub/antibacterial soap Rinse with warm water really well Sterilize skin and pop as many as you can. Best of luck.
