Motion pro also makes a dowel pin puller. It’s got a mini slide hammer that attaches to them & plunks them out, works great. This is still a great tip for ppl that don’t want to wait for the tool or don’t care to buy it.
@MichaelSabo4 жыл бұрын
Haven't seen that tool but it makes sense; sounds like a blind bearing puller!

I just finished using a thread tap on them. I'm going to pull them out with a slide hammer. I like the idea of tapping them because you do not cause any distortion on the exterior and you also have an easier way of reinstalling them.

Should the drill set be metric or SAE… meaning you know how they are each slightly different in sizes? The thinking being the slight difference in sizes might allow for one to fit more snugly inside the other. IDK just a thought

What’s the trick to rounding them back out, if you tried to pull with needle-nose before doing this method? Mine looks pretty damn round still, I keep trying to use the drill bit as a ‘reamer’ almost, and or a guided to get it in straight, but the one end jusy doesnr wanna go in...

The dowel pin on my engine is solid so I don’t need that trick but they are extremely tight cant even take them off with a vice grip. You got anymore trick?
@JasonSmith-bu7wk Жыл бұрын
The better pliers to use here are knipex 8603150 (smooth jaws) they don’t mare the outside of the dowel pin so you can still reuse them again but the the use of the drill bit is definitely right on
