Another confirmation that this works. I used a dremel with a cut off wheel to make my notch. And a propane torch to heat things up. Serious beating with a hammer and chisel. Much harder hammering required than I saw in this video. But it eventually started to budge. Thanks!

You are a genius! This saved me from buying yet another tool for this job. It worked like a charm, and the only saw I had that fit the drain was my jigsaw. Even that little saw did the job and worked. This method made an impossible task, easy. I am a VERY senior citizen, and if I can do this anyone can. Terrific video.

Thank you!! This was the best tutorial ever!! I used a heat gun instead of a hairdryer, but it worked just the same. I’m 70yrs old so it took a little bit of effort with the chisel, but once it started to move, it was easy. Saved me some plumber money ☺️

Your video gave me the most useful information of them all. The hairdryer work wonders on a 20 year old corrosive tube drain. It would budge until I used the hairdryer to loosen the old plumbers and glue. Thanks for the tip. Saved me a bunch of money.

I friggin love you! I worked 6 hours on taking that cuff out. 10 trips to the hardware store and the miracle blow dryer did the trick! Amen brother!

I was skeptical, but this was the last thing to try after trying everything else. THANK YOU! Worked much easier than anticipated.

Thank you so much! Spent hours with all sorts of other tools and strategies, even the blow dryer, but using the saw/chisel/hammer is what finally got it dislodged. Thank you thank you.

Yes, yes and YES! I tried every other way on an old gerber drain, nothing worked. After this video I used my oscillating tool to make the groove, heated it w the hair dryer, went to town with a hammer and chisel and voila! Thank you!

It worked!!! After no success with first a tub drain wrench and then another trip to the store for a tub drain extractor, I tried the hacksaw/ chisel method and viola! Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about this awesome idea- it is much appreciated.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Your video was the only thing that worked for us. We had bought the drain wrench($15) and that broke the crossbars, we then got the drain extractor(another 20ish) and that didn't have enough grip so we were utterly at a loss. Tried your method with a heatgun and we were finally able to make it budge. You saved us a hefty bill from a plumber. Again tysm

I’m pretty good at DIY stuff but this was really tough. I was about to hire a pro until I found this video. Luckily, I had a heat gun. It took a couple of rounds but eventually got it loose.

Your the master, thanks so much. I had to make 4 cuts and hammer it all the way around 4 times before I could budge it with plyers. Took 40mins. I wouldn’t of committed like that without seeing you do it first :)

Very nice idea. Will try it later. Mine is a very old drain tube and have tried drain extractor. None of them worked. This may be a good try. Will see how it goes.

Well. Mine is a very old one and may have been there for more than 20 years. It does not work with chipset. I may have to cut the base in order to remove the drain.

As said, I cut the base in order to remove the drain sink. At the end of the removing job, I realized that I might be able to use plumber wrench to turn the base. It may be easier. Then, I did that. The removing job becomes an easier one. Ha Ha.

It didn't actually work for me, mine was very stuck or over-tightened and probably 60yr installed. I ended up prying the top part of the drain off after this method got it loose enough to break without hurting the tub. Thanks for the help.
