This how-to rocks. I used my wife's "Jiffy" steamer to remove the front door window tint on a 2021 GTI that had been applied by the previous owner (why do people do this?). Took my time in order to remove as much of the adhesive as possible when the tint pulled off. There was still a bit left on the edges where I couldn't really get the heat into the film, so I used denatured alcohol on an old rag to remove the residual adhesive. Note: After the alcohol evaporates on the window surface, any adhesive that didn't get picked up by the rag will stick back onto the glass. Do yourself a favor and use an old microfiber rag with the denatured alcohol, which will help pick up the adhesive better than the old cotton T-shirt that I used. The rag will be forever contaminated after this, so relegate it to the oil spill clean-up pile...

Or get 409 spray (ammonia) and spray the inside of the window and put a black trash bag over it so it doesn’t dry out. Leave in the direct sunlight for 20-30 mins and boom everything off at once.

Thank you for your helpful video. I am removing tint from a 2010 Silverado. It takes me about 45 minutes per window because I am using a heat gun not a hair dryer. If the window gets too hot to touch I move it to another area. The glue is the most time consuming and I'm hesitant to use a razor blade instead I'm using Bon Ami. It takes a little effort but the windows are so clear it's like they're not even there.

It worked. Cut the trash bag in half so its thinner. This worked. I did have a hand held steamer. The garbage bag took about 80% of the tint off. Rest was steamer.

Had to come back to this video to say WOW. First time needing to do this ever and many videos had me worries it would be much much harder and leave a lot of goop behind unless I have some more professional tools. Tried this and I was prepared with a heat gun to combo it and like 3 different spudger tools aside from my razor blade but none of that was needed, just the razor to start the peel, and I've barely got any residue. This technique is beyond goated.

Some people assume that if you tell people how you do a thing you’ll lose all business. Truth be told most people want to know but they aren’t interested in doing. By being transparent you gain trust. I now know how to do a lot of these things. But I don’t want to do it so I’ll totally pay this person to do it.

Peel the very corner of the tint then start to pull slowly. The glue will come off not all of it (90-95%) have a wet towel and swipe the glue away. You can also use your finger but it gets tired.

I cut the plastic bag, but it would not hold. So, sprayed the window well, added the plastic bag with extra folded over the top of the window and rolled the window up. Applied more spray and smoothed bag over it. It sat in the sun for 30 minutes (I lost track of time). I figured it wouldn't work, but, surprise, it did. Used a knife to get the tint started, and then pulled it and the plastic bag off. It worked. No sticky residue. I drive a lot at night and the tint the dealer put on my car made it difficult to see details out the side windows. Now I'll look for a sun block tint that is clear at night, if there is such a thing. (Living in AZ in the summer...)

If you ever need to take 25 year old tint thats been smoked on and its baked to the window sometimes you can use a razor blade, the thing with razor blades is this, make sure you have PLENTY of soapy water and work real slow and eventually you'll get it all off,DO NOT DO IT DRY or you will scratch your window! this is again for tint that has been on a car since you were wearing short pants, that stuff can get baked on a window were it will only come off in pieces, forget about the whole thing coming off, lol
