Remove Ubuntu and Install Windows using Flash Drive

The video demonstrates the process of how to install Windows 10 over existing Linux Ubuntu operating system by removing Ubuntu from the PC. This video is useful for users who have existing Ubuntu Linux operating system on their computer and needs to install Windows instead.
Follow the steps below to remove Ubuntu and install Windows:
Step 1: Install WoeUSB application on Ubuntu
Step 2: Create Windows bootable flash drive from Windows 10 ISO file
Step 3: Boot from Windows bootable flash drive
Step 4: Delete existing partitions and install Windows

You need to boot from hard disk after first restart during installation instead of booting from flash drive. Only initially you need to boot from flash drive. Once windows setup starts then you need to boot from hard disk during restarts. Otherwise it will start installation from beginning.

Edit: the error has been fixed but WOEUSB complains that the target usb device is currently busy, even when it isnt. Windows is a paid proprietary software. You need to purchase its key when Windows will start displaying activation messages in task bar. Till then you can use it for free. Though till windows is not activated you may have restrictions on customizing it's look and feel.

I was able to follow along until 6:10 for some reason, my dell gets hung up on the splash screen when the usb drive is plugged in, and I can't access bios or the boot menu. However, when I unplug the USB drive and restart the computer, I can access the menus. Any idea why that might be? I'm working with a Dell XPS 9365

You need to boot from the flash drive. You need to press a function or other special key (Del, Esc, F10, F2, etc..) to enter bios as soon as systen is power on. Generally the choice is briefly flashed on screen when the computer powers on. Enter BIOS/ UEFI setup, turn off secure boot, enable boot from usb option, save settings, restart. Press some function key again to display boot menu (F9, F12, etc...) to display boot menu, boot from usb, install windows and turn on secure boot again. The function keys are different on different make and model of computers, the required key is generally displayed when system boots. If still not booting then try "Enable legacy boot" option then try again.

'Cuz I've seen that the ISO (Windows OS) would take up around 5 GB and I'm wondering if it's gonna occupy more space than that? You need to open WoeUSB application. You can either open it by searching it in applications menu or type 'sudo woeusbgui' on terminal to open it.

@@BEANYTHING at present this problem is with Ubuntu latest version 20.04. This process works fine on versions up to Ubuntu 18.04. It also works on other debian based versions of Ubuntu.

R u using Ubuntu 20.04? This is a problem in Ubuntu latest version. It works fine till UBUNTU 18.04. In latest Ubuntu you can create windows bootable USB on command line as described in this video : kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipfUq62Mna2mqMU Rest process will be same.

R u using Ubuntu 20.04 or above? This is a problem with WoeUSB in Ubuntu latest versions. It works fine till UBUNTU 18.04. In latest Ubuntu you can create windows bootable USB using one of the two methods mentioned at www.techsolveprac.com/windows-bootable-flash-drive-linux/ Rest process will be same.

Yes. The my drive shown in the video is actually my pen drive. The drive will be automatically erased during the process.

Is the ppa repository for windows drivers? I have already created a bootable drive with windows 11 in it. But when I tried to install it said that there were some hardare drivers required which weren't on my device. Please reply I am on the verge of insanity.{I am running fedora 36 right now}

I did it the cool, convoluted way. MX Linux did have a USB writer that had no problem making a Windows USB, it was just very slow to do so, so I downloaded the Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft's website, ran it in a virtual machine via Virtual Box, then used the virtualized Windows to make an installation media to install Windows 10 natively. It was the most fun I've had jumping through hoops honestly.
