for anyone doing this, this absolutely tanked the fps of my OBS recordings and caused a slew of other issues. just buy a green screen or clean your computer room. i also have a ryzen 7700 and a 4070ti with 32gb of ram, second i deleted the filter my recordings went back to a rock solid 120fps. might help someone else pulling their hair out over the same issues i had, the internet was absolutely no help, not even reddit.

Your background is incredibly challenging, due to lighting. Chances are a well lit subject in front of a more uniform background should give much better results.

Okay so you'd copy the files and paste them into your obs folder n your computer. After doing that I had the same issue, to find the background filter it's under Effects it should be the second option on the list.

Does not work with the current OBS version (30.1.2 on Win11 64bit). After plugins are added and I start OBS it crashes, then I start again and it offers to be opened in safe mode. There is no filter like that. In normal mode OBS crashes again.

try setting it to use CPU ? if you dont have a RTX GPU there might be issues, that was the case with a similar plugin

This works on any camera, just choose the right one in sources.

It's so strange that in every tutorial I've watched about using OBS and green screen settings, the person's video who giving the tutorial that's posted on KZbin looks perfect as soon as they apply their own back ground, but it never works near as well when I apply mine.

Make sure your lighting is good. Lighting matters a lot when removing the background, especially virtually

Thanks! I'm not sure I understood correctly but if you add this filter to your webcam, it will basically remove the background. You can then go ahead and add gameplay in the source below.

no, you can't add any modifications to streamlabs. streamlabs is a fork of obs studio.

Make sure you're installing it in the right location. Usually that's program files > obs studio. If you installed it somewhere else, then place it in that other location

Not sure what exactly you mean. You don't need to change the background color as there's no background when you use the plugin. You can just put game capture/display capture or even a static image behind yourself to change your 'background'

@@RandomKeebs Why would you want to do that? You can always crop it in edit/OBS. You can also try changing the theme of the website to a very bright green and then masking it out

@@Agenterino I’ll try the green thing thanks. I wanted to remove it bc I didn’t wanna a giant blue box floating in the videos as opposed to just having the text on screen as it goes. In my opinion the videos where I’ve seen it done as an overlay it looks very clean and aesthetically pleasing.

I don't understand why OBS's features like this are so bad. This looks horrible compared to Zoom or MS Teams background removal/replacement. When I use Teams background removal it's perfect. OBS's green screen is the same.. there's always that glitchiness on the edges and turning part of your hair green.. You can't avoid it. Meanwhile video editing software does it perfectly with no visual quality deformation whatsoever.

The plugin is a good effort, but it ain't gonna do what Zoom does. They have dozens of people tasked on just this aspect of the software. Ain't no way a free OBS plugin will be anywhere close anytime soon.

Okay so install it. Goo to the folder just click on it and open it don't have to unzip, copy then open another file explorer if on windows, go to this pc > program files > obs studio > paste. If you have obs opened up you'll need to close it and reopen it. After which right click on your webcam if it is added if not click add source add video capture device > right click > filter > Effects (this is located below Audio/video add ons) add background removal, should be the second option, click on advance settings. The defaults should be good if the effect is not applied switch from GPU to CPU. You can also adjust your feather blend silhouette. Yeah and you're all set bro!

Windows gives me a warning that it "protected my computer" when I tried to install this.

try to go past that warning. it only sees a plugin without certificate and denies it for safety of for example virus. obs plugins are not protected with such certificates because it is free open source. You can dismiss the warning and still go on with the installation.
