I know the house was derelict, and needed extensive rebuild, but it is pretty scary watching so much be demolished. I must admit to some nostalgia for the old building.

We’re also full of nostalgia but we want a home, not a crumbling pile of stones. It’s hard for us to watch it change but it’ll not be long before we start rebuilding 🤗

This clearly isn't the builder's first rodeo show. Antonio, Manuel and son? are so fast, especially for what looks like a long life of work. I'm surprised that there is no visible limp or pain. Usually after a life of hard, heavy labour peoples' bodies have signs of wear. You're so fortunate (and did your homework, most likely) to have such a great crew. Also, love a woman who can tout her own tools!

Construction workers here work at slower pace than te US..no rush ..before they move a foot they make sure where they are going to put it I´v worked here and in New Jersey..construction in general , pipe layer, block layer, curb&sidewalk, pipe layer.....

The steel casement widows can all be restored. In your climate they will be perfectly serviceable. Restoring them will save you a whole bundle of money. 👍

@@NearbyVeggies Great! I think you will be surprised by how nice they turn out with a little sand blasting, a fresh coat of paint, lubrication of the hinges and fresh glazing. 😊 And you can always use them for the south facing wall in a greenhouse!

Was that second wall so unstable they needed to pull half of it down? The wall with the hole, I understand, it could never stand as it was. Was there any mortar left in the demolished walls at all? What a huge undertaking! I wondered how they would brace/stabilize the remaining walls, learned a lot just watching. This should actually be fascinating to see how the walls, floors and structure are rebuilt.
