Removing a stuck bottom bracket.

Following your instructions I was able to remove a very stubborn bottom bracket. I used a strong wrench and a added a 3 feet steel extension for extra leverage. It worked but I admit it was quite a chore. Many thanks for your video, I now can rebuild the bike.

Yep, the mallet hit on the end of the wrench has worked for me many times. Standing on the wrench also. The penetrating spray also is very crucial. No way without. Very glad you made this video.

Tried many suggestions but failed. Needed to keep a lot of pressure on the bracket to grip. Used this setup with a bit of pipe at the end of the adjustable spanner for leverage. It worked. Thanks

Secure the tool with a bolt and washer to the crank square.

That's the way to do it. Then you can put all your effort into turning the tool instead of also trying to keep it in place on the bottom bracket (and not risk it coming loose a bit and damaging the end of the bottom bracket which will make it even harder to get a good pressure on it).

I would buy a longer bolt that has the same thread pitch as the crank, a spring, washer and bearings to hold the bottom bracket socket in place. And a cheater bar. At 17:00 of your video when you hit the wrench with the rubber hammer you're bouncing the bike. Somehow you need to stop the bike from bouncing.

Steel bb cups in an aluminium frame = Galvanic corrosion. Solution is applying just a little bit grease to threads.

The plastic on mine was stripped. Impossible to get out with that tool. So i've ended up cutting into it, just trying to cut the plastic out basically. The drive side is metal but not moving AT ALL. What I did was run the rear skewer through the BB and tighten the removal bit on that way. It holds it on well. But i'm drowning it in penetrating oil to see if that works... If the oil doesn't work, I feel like i'm going to have to start drilling holes into the BB to get it out.

There is the matter of leverage, yes, but also the matter of the best possible tooling engagement, which is just as important, if you’ve ever actually contended with this kind of stuck bottom bracket situation.

CYCLUS SHIMANO Sealed Bottom Bracket tool, this tool will be with a threaded keeper that will thread into the spindle, if really stuck then the use of cheater bars would be helpful, my self I'll use a park tube bending tool in place of cheater bars. Removal is done in a minute or two.

I use oil inside and boiled water outside.
