This is so helpful, about to do this very job on my 2003 TREK 7500fx. Thanks for posting.

These do seem simpler than all the various types of bottom brackets they have on the newer carbon fiber bikes. I am truly beginning to wonder about this bike thing. It seems like sometimes you get more trouble for more money. Thanks for the video.

The new bikes cost way way too much.. I'll stay with the older bikes. I like downtube shifters as well. I tried the lever shifters, don't lire them at all.. Too many cables up front with the lever shifters too. It's too busy with all of those cables.

Is it normal for the non drive side crank arm to be a little closer to the chain stay than the drive side arm?

Not usually; they are usually the same. But some frames can have more of a flare out to open tire clearance.

You man.. Why's my square taper bb spindle weird.. 68x125.. Measured with a caliper and it's a single Chainring bike from factory.. I thought the longer spindles were for 3x

If it's OEM, the crank dictates the bb. It's all about how the crankset was designed and related to the chain line.
