Looks like it it time for a recall and make version 3.

Take a Dremmel tool and grind the hook on the Vorrtex down until it releases easily.

Wow! I believe I'd get an A2Z adapter instead. Thanks for the video.

I have a Lectron Vortex adapter and I've never had to do anything but depress the release switch to remove the NACS connector. I'm 53 years old and no Hercules by any means, and have no issues removing the NACS connector from my Lectron Vortex adapter.

Dripping with sarcasm. I love your approach, keep it up.

You could try filing down the tab inside the Vortex adapter a little so it still retains enough for safety but releases when the latch is depressed.

I have the same problem and Electron sent me a link to this video to "help" me remove the Vortex adapter from my NACS connector. I can't believe I need to go buy a vice grip and carry it around with me in order to use Vortex on road trips. What a joke! I guess I'll have to run out to my hardware store to see if this works. Wish me luck. (Follow up: I bought a regular clamp from Home Depot and I was finally able to pry the adapter off. I am definitely requesting a refund since I have no intention of carrying around the clamp with me.)

Lectron notice: free vice grips with every vortex order😂😂😂

That is ridiculous and unacceptable quality control from a reputable company.

This product was a disaster. Really doing the EV industry a disservice by not making sure the tolerances are accurate before shipping. I couldn't get mine apart either. I've had many emails and messages from people that say they couldn't get theirs apart also and they had to abandon their adapter at a supercharger.

Have you considered that the tolerances problem might be with the handle, and not the adapter? I have used the same A2Z adapter on numerous Superchargers, and it’s loose on some, too tight on others. There’s definitely variation in the handles.
@Crazypostman3 ай бұрын
@@carsonassociates3263 That's always a possibility, but now I've had two Vortex adapters and one was too loose and the other is too tight. So I would say the problem's probably on their side.

Sure will be nice when all vehicles are NACS and we don't have to deal with these shoddily made adapters.

This solution is a joke! Dave is trying to embarrass Lectron or force a safety recall on the adapter. No one is going to buy a welder’s vice grip to charge their EV. I can hear the ICE advocates now, “look how hard it is to charge an EV.” A small file or Dremel tool should be able to fix this problem. Or, demand Lectron replace your adapter.

never buy a lectron vortex. problem adverted. No need to carry a welder's vice grip in your back pocket.
