Removing an OMC 4.3 Liter engine | 1989 Four Winns

Subd. I just bought a 4.3 boat (traded and it got delivered before I could check dipstick). Runs great but had a bunch of water in the oil. Probably needs new exhaust manifold(s). But wow are they expensive! Its a 20ft Maverick Cobia 2150 cuddy cruiser. Thinking about just pulling the motor and glassing in a transom to mount a 35-50 outboard that will at least get it up on plane. Unless you know of a cheap place to get cloned 4.3 exhaust manifolds?

Have you tried all the gaskets between the manifold and engine, or the manifold and riser (if it has one)? Again, if it has a riser that could be an issue. Is there any visible damage? I had a Bayliner that sat with the cover off and water came in through the carburetor all it needed was an oil change (and hope nothing got too rusty). Those 4.3s are really nice engines 😉

How do you separate the outboard and the motor or does it just slide in and out

Onc you remove the nuts and or bolts it slides out. Either the engine or the outboard side.
