Removing and Replacing USB Media Hub, 5th Generation RAM 1500

I've had constant problems with the USB interface on this truck. I purchased a new USB media hub in hopes of fixing the issue. However no Joy!!!

Amazing! We disconnected our cables and replugged in without replacing the USB port and our CarPlay works for the first time since bringing our used truck home

All 4 of ports on my 2019 constantly power cycle on and off every 5 seconds. I might try changing the hub, but not sure it's worth the effort.

Ok. I figured out the hack to have a USB C cable that works 100% of the time, at least in my truck. The USB C cable has to be a data transfer cable, preferably a USB4 one. It is about twice as thick as a standard cable. I found this out after I used a cable meant for a hard drive. For reference, I bought one from microcenter, item number: 485219 and it works 100% of the time for charging through both usb c ports. Haven’t tried for the USB A ports, but I guess it would be the same thing…just make sure the cable is the real deal quality ones that are even better than the factory apple or Samsung ones.

My 2019 Ram has the same issue. I just ordered that usb media hub a couple days ago and was hunting for a way to pull the old one out. Could it be another one of those “bring it to the dealership and we’ll flash a software update on your vehicle” type of fix? I hope not, because the waitlist is 2 months just for an oil change at my local dealership

Well, not sure if the hub will help you. The tech side of me thinks software won't fix the problem. Could be wrong. It's definitely worse with cheap USB cables. Standard Samsung cable works the best, but still have the issue occasionally.

My 20 limited just started saying device not compatible and my usb quit working today so I’m pretty sure mine has taken a crap
