When I was a kid, my Dad always had me work beside him when we updated our home. My job was always pulling up staples and nails. I learned so much from those projects. Your kids will love the memories you create with them too.

Love this comment... I too, helped my father with many house/car projects throughout my childhood. I credit those projects to my confidence now in taking care of reasonably doable house fixes and maintaining my car. All my friends come to me for advice and help. I grew up rebuilding decks/roofs, installing windows/insulation/ drywall, creating pathways/landscape and working under the family cars. I miss being my dad's right hand/tool finder/runner... 🥰💜

Same. I remember when my parents got their first house I was always helping my dad scrape paint, rip out an old chimney, paint rooms. They weren’t the most fun days back then but now they’re some of the best memories with him

I hate to get emotional about this but thank you so much for these videos. My father is in horrible shape due to cancer, and will not be able to teach me all the things he hoped to teach me. Therefore, it is a blessing to have channels such as yours where I can soak up all the knowledge and share it with my dad. We bond, learn and grow together as his journey might be coming to a close. Thank you for allowing me to learn, grow, bond and share it all with my dad

I know the termites are discouraging but just remember you are the blessing that this house and the future owners needed. I would be so relieved to know you flipped my house bc i would know that everything was done right and in good conscience. You are a blessing to all of your future homeowners, there are sooooo many " house flippers" that are scammers. Who just slap up some new paint and carpets and call it a day. Can't wait to see your finished work of art!😁

Joel, you came right to the point and made the job seem easy, which is great. But you also included the not-so-nice parts in the bloopers, which show that things are rarely as easy as you want them to be. Thank you for that. Also, I love your logo. Please tell us what it means and how you came up with it. I love the channel.

Brings back memories of me ripping up our carpet at our old house! My husband always doubts my “handyman” skills but I got this. 💪🏼 I was SO sick of the carpet as my dogs started marking the few places where the previous homeowners’ pets had marked. It wasn’t bad at first but after so many cleanings and it doing nothing but getting worse it was time for them to go! Moved all the furniture myself and went to town yanking out nasty carpet (that really wasn’t very old but pets ruin things 🤷🏼‍♀️) just to discover beautiful original hardwood floors in our 100+ year old house! I was winging it the whole way but did basically everything you did in this video. Thankfully I didn’t have to remove any doors but I did leave us big rolls of carpet to maneuver and get out of the house! Oops 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

there must be some way one can cut the carpet with a guarantee that he isn't making lines in the floor beneath? One way is to start off by pulling out the corners of the carpet first, then pull the carpet off and cut the carpet when it is off the floor.

Hi. Thank you. Just watched to see if there were any tips. I did one large room by myself and it was a nightmare. Did part of another. Started on dining room this weekend. I have been ripping up small section... holding it up and cutting midair. Takes forever and is cumbersome. I may try and cut flat on the ground....but I am going back to hardwood floors which are already underneath. I have actually used a staple remove on some. tacks and pliers on others as well as flathead screwdriver and hammer on others. No matter what it is a long nasty job. Thank you for the video.
