So is it now smoother than the kakuno that you've? This is the first time i see technique using polishing paste for nib smoothing. Your description of trench warfare made me giggle! It does looks like aftermouth of a heavy artillery barrage!

4:42 I never realized how abrasive autosol is against tipping material as I used it the same way before as well, from polishing dental tool for sculpting to polishing custom ground Jinhaos. that tipping is now shaved to an angle that if anyone did it just a bit too much, you'd press on that sharp end of the tipping and creates extra sharp scratchiness, good thing that's only on the reverse side, but still~ never sell this to unsuspecting person as secondhand and smooth=better. welp, just never use an especially Japanese fine gold nib for watercolor paper, I do that too, but between using waterproof pigmented FP ink and nib smoothness, cheapish pens do it way better, and yes, then there's the conundrum that you'd have to use expensive and smooth paper for feedbacky nibs too! so that's fun, expensive, and 'worse' cost-performance for every magical gold nib.

I believe the feedback Platinum gives the pens is intentional as they are kind of known for that feeling. Sailor does the same thing. On the other hand, Pilot is known to be smooth, and many of the China brands try to be smooth as well (if they can get the tines aligned properly at the factory).

I'm going to try this out the next time I fiddle with a scratchy nib - thanks! The result looks pretty commendable. (A sort of tangent: do you have any fountain pens that are equivalent to a 0.01 Rotring Isograph or a 0.18 Staedtler Mars matic (even an inverted nib, as long as it's reasonably smooth)?

1:12 ...I 💗💖 them soo much that , I got 3 Pilot Kakuno pens (medium nibs) with different inks & 1 Pilot Kakuno pen (fine nib) and 1 PILOT Kalligraphie-Füller Parallel Pen 1,5mm. and I have plans to buy up more of the Parellel pens, in different nibs. These Pilot Kakuno pens are the best...I don't care about fashion , looks...I want Good Functioning, pens

Pens are not designed to write with the nib upside down unless it’s a special grind like the ones from sailor or if it has been taken to a nibmeister, some of my pens write decent upside down while some dont. Interesting macro shots of the 3776, i took a look at my sailor pro gear and it has a similar pitting but it is much finer, the Schmidt #5 fine i have has deeper pitting and is uneven compared to the sailor

I have a similar issue of feedback with my Pilot Falcon, an expensive pen that I hate to use! I 've made a few adjustments to get it to write smoother, but it might be time for a polish. Thanks!

but will it wear out?
@nochipmunks86929 ай бұрын
Polishing is actually the process of wearing out the surface, if you mean will it be rough again , I highly doubt that , it'll stay smooth for ages

🙄 .I can't believe this. Price has nothing to do with smoothness and comparing. Comparing apples to elephants
