very curious why they specify silicon-free grease?? I shy away from hydrocarbon lubes on ALL rubbers, just because I'm not confident in my ability to correctly distinguish Viton vs. Buna-n or whatever, knowing some of these aren't going to swell...

I think it's because gasoline won't dissolve silicone grease, and you could plug the injector with silicone grease if you used too much.

Over simplified. What is the actual installation experience? Install the injectors on the fuel rail first. It's a tight fit. How to leverage the injectors into the head? How long to leave the sizing tool on the tip?

Interesting: no lube on the bottom injector seal, but silicon-free engine oil on the top seal.

Where can you obtain this tool kit specifically the the cone for installing the Teflon sleeve on the nozzle side of the injector?

If the injectors come out with the fuel rail as one unit, is it still necessary to remove the clips and replace upper seals before re-installing into the cylinder head? Can the Teflon seals be reused if not scored? Danke.

@@BoschAutoNA Thanks, I didn't tried yet - but pulling out requires hammer so it means for me some force is needed when installing. However, on the movie, it looks like incector was installed only "by fingers" without any higher force.

The difficulty to remove any component can and will vary depending on many factors age, mileage, type of climate (salt belt). Level of difficulty really is challenging to quantify and differs between individuals. The video is intended to general guide and Bosch recommends the customer consult the vehicle specific replacement documentation for details. Because this was intended to be a general guide and for the simplicity of demonstration we did not include all the potential variables of the removal/installation process. We hope this did not cause too much of an inconvenience for the customer and will take their comments into consideration for future guides. Bosch Auto Parts thanks for reply. Two more questions: 1. Installation doesn’t require additional tools? By hand is enough? 2. What mean red screens during movie? Hidden content or just “warning”?

In this demonstration the injectors did not require special tools, the injectors were seated by hand and the installation of the rail finalized the seating. The red screens are just to highlight critical steps. The purpose of the video is to be a general reference guide. There are additional vehicle specific details you will need to verify (procedure to release fuel pressure, torque specification & sequencing, & recommended gasket/hose replacement). If you have any doubts regarding the replacement I highly recommend you obtain/consult OE repair and replacement documentation or take the vehicle to a certified mechanic.

I'm replacing a Chevy Ecotech motor with direct injection and am curious as to lube the end injector o ring(the o ring that sits on the end of the injector and actually gets inserted into the cylinder head)? The service manual doesn't specify. First time messing with direct injection and want to do it right

No lube on the Teflon side only the o-ring side fuel rail.

WHAT?! Bosch makes awesome parts. More than likely the vast majority of your car is using some sort of Bosch parts and you've never had to touch them. I love Bosch. Injectors, sensors, steering racks, pumps ... sure, some things break down but the vast majority does just fine. The real problem comes from the OEMs who are not properly specing or installing the stuff.

@@orangejjay I seen their spark plugs cause misfires in none oem applications.Includes take out an entire GM ignition system too.Have installed their oxygen sensors,come back bad.Most of the European makes use NGK spark plugs from the factory
