Removing PlastiDip with a Pressure Washer

Removing thin plastidip can be a big PITA. Luckily if you have access to a pressure washer, removing it can be made so much easier. Just be careful not to get too perpendicular with the paint as you might cause some damage. I used the 15 degree tip however if you are worried about damaging your paint, you can use a 25 degree or even a 40 degree tip to get it done.

you can use a air gun to remove plastic dip as well just like with the pressure washer.

I destroyed my rubbers maybe if I had a thicker layer of plastic dip. also I tried removing the edges and seems where there's gaps in my bumper , by holding it to close I peeled some of my factory clear coat of my bumber 😢

Now if i dipped certain parts of my truck a few weeks ago and think i may have applied the plasit dip a little thin would i A) have to remove it all and start over to make it thicker or B) can i apply more coats on the old layers of plasti dip?

Ryan Hall Well it depends what you want to do with it. If you want to remove it complete, I would try peeling it, and if that doesn't work, use a pressure washer and dip dissolver. if you want to keep it, leave it the way it is. The only time new plastidip will adhere to old plastidip is if you prep the dip and strip all of the dirt from it. You don't want a layer of dirt between two layers as you'll only peel up the top one if you want to remove it.

it is not good to keep the water pressure so close in range to the car..that is what I know. not good for the paint I guess..

Well regardless if you want a matte or glossy colour, the base coat should remain the same. So if you wanted a bright yellow glossy car, go with a gunmetal base coat, followed by your yellow coats, and then your gloss.

Plasti dip can take a lot of heat. so it had advertised.

Well, the idea isn't to melt or burn it off but to use heat to loosen the molecules of the dip, making it easier to peel off by hand.

Quick word of warning that these pressure washers can take paint right off of metal surfaces, I'm guessing his fender is plastic.

+Justin Hogan You are completely right in saying that. getting to know your pressure washer is very important. If you go with a too aggressive tip and you get too close to the paint, it can strip paint just like you said. And yes the fender is plastic :)

+Sick Dips Mold. Look at the bottom of your garage doors. ;) I'd just be careful not to get too much water anywhere but the floor, and leave the garage door open. Too much moisture inside will get to your drywall. Maybe get a dehumidifier if you like to use your hose in your garage that much.
