Removing Rear AC Trim Panel Chevy Trailblazer 2002 EXT LT

Removing the rear AC trim panel so you can work on the rear air conditioning system in a chevy trailblazer. This is a quick tutorial on removing the rear ac trim panel for a trailblazer or gmc envoy. There are 3 key parts of your rear ac that you need to remove this trim panel to work on. The resistor, blend door actuators, and blower motor. I show you the tools you need and a few tips on how to quickly remove the trim panel. There are also photos included of where the attachments and fasteners are located at. I also have a video on removing the blend door actuator posted at the end.

Hey Samuel, shameless plug through my amazon associates link but that is a Milwaukee M12 Fuel 3/8 ratchet. A very good tool I've found helpful as it can reach hard to get places and break bolts loose manually. I do not but if you know the part number and do a search including “diagram” or “location” you can probably find it quickly.

So one of those actuators controls air to blow from the top and the floor. If you’re not getting AC/air flow to the top an actuator is probably out. I have another video covering the repair of that part.

What causes the tapping in that area

That noise is caused by the actuator gears beginning to break down.

Is the the AC for the whole vehicle or just in the back

Sounds like you have a cool custom job going on! I believe the AC lines connect with the front system but there’s got to be a way to pull it out.

It looks like there may be. I read this article and it talks about the location. I saw it on one site called the "expansion valve" and another called it the"A/C Evaporator" GM part number 88892986. www.fixya.com/cars/t25708607-expansion_valve_in_2002_chevy

thank you so much for your videos...quick question...the blendor ac actuator opens and closes the door on the ac DUCT but ...how the other actuator works ? the hot cold? ...I'm getting cold on front and hot on the rear vents...will this be the hot cold ac actuator? or the blend door actuator?..thanks in advance

That’ll be your hot cold actuator. The blend door controls directional flow (face/feet) and the front and rear A/C are on two different systems temperature wise. Try adjusting your rear hot/cold controls with power on and listen for tthe whirring noise of the actuator. If you hear the actuator moving, it may be something else.
