Great video; great help. Even with this I'd never dare that kind of operations.

It's pretty easy - you can do it! Especially after you've seen me tackle it. Thanks for watching.

Thank you - I am working through the entire series. I'm close to wrapping it all up (just lots of videos to edit and post over the next few weeks). Thanks for watching!

thanks for the video. My 2016 console between the waterfall and arm rest gets very hot in the summer here in Georgia so I want to see about installing some heat insulation under here. This was really useful - I'm guessing the assembly didn't change much over the years (exploded parts diagram show similar). Thanks for the great channel!

Thanks Steve! Was looking for exactly this to replace my 2005 console piece with a 2006 model with the tiny cup holders that I picked up

I had a SAAB that came with a similar slot. It was for holding Credit Cards, Parking Passes, etc.

just a note.... the cover of the center armrest on my 2007 vantage was showing a looseness that resulted in wrinkling of the material. the material, much to my surprise, was NOT leather, but some kind of naugahyde. i suspect that designers decided that sweaty forearms would discolor real leather and so used an artificial material. once i thought about it for a moment, it made sense. ...anyway, the reason for the wrinkling was not the material but the thin foam under it. apparently, it simply oxidized and disintegrated into a powder over a period of 15-20 years, resulting in wrinkles. the material is held onto the underlying plastic piece with 30-50 staples and is easily removed. a classic DIY job if there ever was one.

The connectors without buttons are for two items - Sport Mode and the Parking Sensor. I have both on my 2007 Volante. I also have the Bluetooth module. I wish it would do streaming from the phone, but that came at a later date. I also have the 950W stereo. My 12VDC outlet in the center dash is not working - this gives me a little bit of confidence to see if I can determine why it doesn't work. I want to put a USB charger and RF transmitter in the outlet to allow me to play music through the stereo. Not that I listen to music when I am driving - the V12 sounds too good. :)

Keep watching the series, I will be showing both upgrades. For the power point, I have a USB Quick Charge point replacement part, and for the Bluetooth streaming I cover two options (both work great). You can do both easily yourself. Thanks for watching.

Does this change much with a manual? I know I am in the minority here

the slot is, I beleve, to hold a mobile phone

Good guess, but back in 2004/2005 the iPhone didn't even exist yet. Age of the flip phone. Officially called a 'Coin Holder' on the Aston Martin parts page. I guess in the UK the coins for tolls/etc. are large enough for this? Works for credit cars, parking passes, and not much more. Goofy little thing regardless. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for watching!

Mobile phones in 2005 will not fit in that slot. Maybe it would work today though.

It’s for coins, plastic cards and car park tickets.
