E46 in europe, I take that isulation from mine too rear shocks, under back seat and on rear windows where the sound column are(this rubber didnt smell like the others), after that the smell is now improved

Thanks for the tip, i'm amased of how clean your car is behind the trunk panels, I pulled off mine and it's dusty as hell the whole area is heavily covered in dust and is almost white lol, I think i'm gonna remove the battery and whatever cables/electronics in there and give it a pressure wash..

Hahaha it's so tempting 😂 also if you still have some smell there is 3 more spots that have the same type of insulation, under and behind the rear seats also under the rear window shelf that requires some work to be removed but doable in 10 mins

I think thats the issue i have in my dodge neon. Makes my entire body smell and feel dirty. I smelled the rubber insulation under the carpet and the smell was so strong. Cant wait to remove it. Its all inside my dash.

Yeah brother many cars of this era have this insulation in them lol Wild, my cars interior temps in the peak of summer is like 130-140F. Those fumes cant be healthy to be inhaling either lol

Thanks for the video! i know the it is 1 year old, but still i am wondering, if a) the smell came back? and b) i read often, that i should also remove the isolation mat from where the back speakers are built in, and also the isolation right behind the backseat polsters.... ? any idea?

I went ahead and did the insulation under the rear seats and the smell is completely gone brother. That was like the last little bit to get it done 👍

Update: I've done it, but i have noticed one more thing. There's a carpet piece that goes from the trunk to the rear sits. And there's tons of that stuff there.

@@pythondon back seat took like 2 minutes and had just as much material as the rear shock towers. After doing some research apparently there is more on the rear deck lid but don’t know how to get to it.

My vw had this crap everywhere including between the dash and the firewall. I actually got vw to replace it but the new material started off gassing immediately. I hope bmw had limited the use of this stuff
