My first time taking an engine out of a car and was more difficult due to my Golf GTI being abandoned and rusty

3 bolts in I'm knackered absolutely brilliant 😂😂😂😂. Reminds me of my first engine swap I took everything off. Took me ages to put things back 😢. But like you say you learn on the way 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. How much oil 😮😮😮

I don’t know what it is about lying on the floor but it proper tires me out, I’m looking for a unit atm going to look at 2 soon need to be inside and hopefully get a lift

@@martinmagee I needed the lift for the Sunday mate and the place wasn’t open on the Sunday so had to get it on the Saturday 😂 so had to pay for the weekend unfortunately

On the pull cable, there is a separator in the little box. This means you can remove the rad pack with out removing the latch and switch

Tbh the engine out wasn’t a bad job was the rusted bolts that was the problem 😂 dreading stripping all the suspension the bolts look horrible

@H19XNS best thing to do is wd40 everything your taking off the night before also give the nuts a tap on top before trying to undo brakes the seal formed by rust works for me mate

That line will be the clutch line to slave cylinder i believe. The brake fluid will probably be knackerd now if it even has any in. Ps are you in the trade of some sort, you have quite a few high end tools.

VAG plugs are easy no matter how old. Lift or push tab then have to push plug/connecter in BEFORE pulling connection to release tab, never ever any need to break the connectors

To remove a vw electric plug you push it in, press on the tab then pull 👍🏻

I hate jacking a car up as well. If you're gonna make mildly restoring non runners a thing, you may want to invest in a lift. They start at about 800 for a manual one or 1500 for a hudraulic one.

Iv done so many Vw Audi cars the rear subframes a fairly cheep tbh you will need to get an alignment after tho

Dude the money you have paid to hire the engine hoist you would be better buying one and have it for future projects you can get one for £170 and will pay for itself over time doing projects like this, i bought mine over 25 years ago and has been well worth it, keep on wrenching doing a good job never done a engine removal 👍ohhh stock up on WD40 its you`re friend use it 30 minutes before undoing anything, doing this myself has saved me many painful snapped nuts and bolts

I’d have to change ecu and everything for that wouldn’t I? Engine mounts have to be modified as well
