Thank you for being the first person I've come across that actually explains the science behind why this weird yellowing happens! As well as a different and actually effective way to get rid of it! Also, one could mix the cream developer with baking soda for stronger whitening. Cover with plastic wrap and heat with a hair dryer.

Pure gold doesn't turn, tarnish, rust, nothing. Also, this process works! I just rehabilitated a pair of power blue canvas and white AF1 lows that were mildly yellowed in less than half an hour.

I used 30vol developer and blue bleach powder. Make a paste, apply to sole, cover with cling flim and leave it for a few hours, I kept it indoors cause I don't have access to direct sunlight. The soles became white than new! :D

The black sole where you applied some the coating seemed to get a little lighter at the end result. It may be just from the lighting in the room but can you let me know if it actually does affect any other colors than the yellowed portion? Thanks!

+Valpuia Khiangte the white will remain until it yellows again. It may take months or even years to yellow again. It is ok and safe to wash and brush

Anonymous how long did you leave it out for? You have to add a ammount where its not painted on but not submerged either. If you dont have don't have a good source of the sunlight buy a UV light. When i tried this on oxidized plastic it worked well but requires about 8 hours or so to really notice the difference. In theory the higher percentage of hydrogen peroxide & combination of ultraviolet light the faster the reaction timing will be. Some people use seran wrap so the "sauce" doesn't dry out but it is not completely necessary.

@@BigALdeek because store bought peroxide is I think only 3% at the highest, unless if you get higher percentage then by all means go right ahead and let us know how it turned out for you. The UV rays reaction with regular peroxide may take forever or maybe not notice much difference.

@@BigALdeek do the procedure first before attacking it with the sharpie. I'm in the Bronx as well and dont have many Windows so what i do it take the lasagna pans (the cheap foil ones) with a UV blacklight led light bulb. Use gloves because you do not want to come in contact with skin it burns.

The more the light reflect on every angle the better it is. Use the sauce sparingly but enough for a light coat. Check up on it from time to time because it can dry up. Some people use clear food wrap.
