I did my own taxes for years even when I had businesses. Then I started using Turbotax, but finally gave up on even that when I had to deal with inheritance, trusts, and royalty income. Now I use a tax service and pay $180. This is ridiculous! I think all members of Congress should have to set up a business, run it for 5 years, sell it, and do all the taxes and relate bookkeeping without the aid of an accountant and see what they foist on us.

@TheStrazy I won't argue with that. I agree that many in government have gone too far. It's one thing for them to pass a restraint that prevents someone from harming an involuntary innocent but it's another when they pass a restrain that undermines the personal and economic freedoms of decent, honest individuals.

I think the video was trying to make the point in a joking way about how we are bieng taxed to death and that we are loosing more and more rights and freedoms in this day and time. I don't think the Aurthor / Artist / Comiedian was aiming at disrespecting the actual soldiers / vetrans etc.. Though our country is still one of the best ones arouid to live in, but if it keeps on going down the path it is it may not remain so for our children or grandchildren.

@Infantry9 With the new vague laws reguarding "domestic terrorism" and the now accepted "indefinate incarceration" we are well on our way to the supression of speech. The government has reinstituted the same greavances that were listed in the declaration of independence and when a citizen does complain they are supressed by fellow citizens for the moment, but with the dissenters of the curr system becoming the minority the freedom of speech could well be supressed with the consent of the masses

@wmhoad Yes, of course. What you mentioned is all our taxes pay for. Its not like our taxes go to education, or police, or fire departments, or social security, or medicare, or transportation, or all the other very important things the revenue actually goes to. Apparently you didn't read the part where I blatantly stated a need to cut back on wasteful spending.

@Infantry9 I was speaking more apon the non-military.The TSA,police and other government agencys. The politicians are trying slowly to incorperate some military branches into policing the citizens of the US, But as for now people who dissagree with the government have tocontend with fellow citizens and certain agencys that would like to supress that right (FCC,and various others) buy passing laws and regulations. My point being the declaration had a list of greavances that are now back in force

@803honda To be fair, NEITHER army was fighting for freedom. The South still had slaves, and there was a lot of (what would later be called) fascist economic polices (which is why they lost - no free market). The North, under Lincoln, virtually eviscerated the Constitution as well, all in the name of Union, so you can't really point to one side as "right". They were both horribly, horribly wrong. Too bad only the South is accurately represented (mostly....).

@TheStrazy There are problems in the US involving excessive and inefficient regulation and I have implied such issues exist. I'm also aware there are self-righteous individuals who want to destroy free speech but as long as we speak out against them, we vote, and our military truly stands by the Constitution, they will not destroy us or our right. The reason for the big prison population has to do with all the criminals that get caught. Unlike places like China, we don't imprison dissenters.

@803honda I merely claimed that the South was not "more right" than the North - not that they should be blamed for the war. I claim this based on their anti-freedom actions taken during the war - things that today we would call fascist. I have never claimed secession was wrong. The idea of consent of the governed does not disappear because of moral errors in seceding territory. Perfect protection of liberty has never existed, even in the US.
