What Fleming does with this song is pure, 100%, unadulterated genius. Beautiful.

I haven't listened to an original version fro so long.... it was almost a complete surprise to me because I have been listening to "Iz" 's version for so long... Nicely done by one of the famous sopranos. Nice job...

I still have my own cassette of this circa 1982 last gig at Alger's pub. Similar to this....but even better. My treasure. No one does this song better-save Judy G.

I'm looking for her rendition of "Happy and Peppy and Bursting with Love."

I mean there is no doubt that she knows how to sing, quite exceptionally well. though, its nice to sing as written by the composer. The actual melody of the song is actually extremely beautiful and needs nothing added or taken away from it.

The orchestration here is a stunner ! Rich and glorious - Great voice but sing the damn song the way it was written !!

She was leaning towards a theatrical blues interpretation. Iisten to her cd haunted heart. Not only is she a soprano, she is also an accomplished jazz vocalist.
@ceeceeshine7 жыл бұрын
Mitchell Pryor I love Ms Fleming dearly, but Haunted heart isn't a jazz album at all, it's a crossover classical/jazz project and she doesn't sing in a jazz vocality at all

This is bad. Too much self concious striving for effects. I enjoy a more consistent sustained phrasing kind of approach
@mikebauer43439 жыл бұрын
'styling' is a disease. why couldn't she just sing it straight? she hasn't got that kind of nightclub diva small talent voice which needs to cheat to put over a song like this.

+AletheiaPeru2011 Renee's thick operatic voice doesn't suit this song. However, Sissel could never sing "O Mio Babbino Caro" like Renee.

Fabulous singing. As to her interpretation just try listening to the great Ella Fitzgerald. At least Renee Fleming's interpretation is musical!
@jaytaylor77409 жыл бұрын
+Michael Conway Baker I don't understand. You mean, Ella F.'s is *not* musical?

Ewww....how totally affected. Listen to Christine Brewer's version - THAT is the way an operatic voice should do this. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oamxnoKwq66cp6c

Her facial expressions and squealing tones make me think she’s having warts frozen off her labia and vagina….just terrible!! The only opera singer that has pulled this song off is Eileen Farrell in the movie “Interrupted Melody”.
