All the others were himself. So when he shot Ren in white, all the versions of him died too. He was on a live stream on twitch for a long time talking about how awful the past 2 months have been as his body crashed. He cried when saying it looks like he will not be able to tour. It puts him under too much stress . And performance is when he is happiest. He is so afraid of living the rest of his life in pain and sickness. This song was very powerful. Lyme disease and autoimmunity is relentless and you live with the constant threat of relapse. The MCAS has no cure, but he said he recently was able to add rice to his list and that is huge!

I still have moments where that realization hits me myself, that the rest of my life is going to be in pain. Relapse or flares of symptoms is absolutely demoralizing and takes what little hope "good days" (aka days you can get a few things done more than usual) bring. My heart breaks for him. It's an incredibly dark place.

Loved watching you experience this! Went into watching you very aware that you have no idea of just how diverse and multi-talented Ren is. He's known as being a genre bender and this off the back of Hi Ren and the Tales must have been a real mind blower. The further you delve into his back catalogue, the more evident this will become. I'm a 50 year old with fairly eclectic music tastes, but it's safe to say I have never experienced an artist like Ren - there is no artist like Ren! There are so many tracks I would suggest you listen to, but you will find all of them eventually. Also, he's done quite a few produced videos like this one where he also does a live acoustic version. Do any song you want to do ❤ there is no right or wrong order as they're so unique Apart from tales and money game, 1 2 & 3 they should be in order (the lyric video for money game 2 for some reason it's better than his live) Ps this is the first song of an new album. So the start of a new chapter. The new album is called Slaughterhouse The last album was called Sick Boi. I took the ending to mean ending sick boi and moving on to new chapter ( the Ren he kills is in a sick boi jumper)

At the end, he's killing off the versions of himself which manifested in the Sick Boi album. A new start in the Slaughterhouse, and musically another left turn incoming. When you work through the lyrics they're full of gems but it's the flows and the beat progression which elevate this track to premier league. The video was made in Canada in Spring, after he had recovered a lot from treatment before returning to UK & performing at Secret Garden Party festival. It's also the shoot during which his eye was injured and he lost sight for a while - in the 'head debt collector' scene there's water running out of his eye on set but he finished the shoot before going to ER. It's this injury which flared up again recently filming the new Tales in UK and led to another ER visit, this time leading to cancellation of the video shoot.

7 Sins for 7 Rens. Only Ren can kill the Sick Boi. This is the new beginning. The Head on a Platter was filmed after he got gouged in the eye with the rusty forceps. He refused to find out who did it because he didn't want to low-key hate them for almost making him blind. There is water flowing from the Right eye (as you look at it) and it's very swollen.

I'm so glad you jumped on this! As someone else mentioned, I think the significance of the scene at the end is that he shoots the version of him that's wearing Sick Boi merch, which was the title of his last album. The Sick Boi album was a rap album, and from what I understand, the new album is not - this is the only rap track on the new album. So this gives us the transition; it represents Ren ending that phase and being resurrected, starting a new phase with the new album.

Everyone has to start somewhere! Ren's music is a complex web and his songs often refer to multiple others of his songs as well as myriad cultural references. It's a bit daunting at first but it builds a whole Reniverse and draws you in! If you want some opinions on this song from people who are already familiar with Ren's work, I would suggest you check out Disco Doc (an 'AI' reactor who may or may not be Ren), Knox Hill, Shadow Aeternum, Sohum, and/or Rosalie Elliott. Ren worked with a Canadian company called Ramble Films on this one (listed in the video description), though there are some friends listed in the credits there: Josh, Brigita and Kai.

Back on 74 and anything he did with his group "The Big Push" should be next. Not just to get relief from the hardcore, but also to get a better idea of his range. Maybe both versions of "Bittersweet Symphony" he did (you might as well watch them together... just make sure to watch them in order. When you get back to his more experimental stuff watch Money Game Parts 1, 2 and 3, in order. Then watch the live performance he did of Money Game Part 2 a few months ago.

Sick Boi is dead! Welcome to the Slaughter House! :) The logo for the Slaughter House album is a rabbit. A bunny called "Johnson"! :) Ren directed and edited the video, of course and every track on the album is produced, mixed and mastered by Ren. :) Ren's last (number 1) album was called Sick Boi and the character in the album was called Sick Boi. There was a Sick Boi logo too. Although still chronically ill and in constant pain, Ren had a few years where his health was "better" and he was able to have a life. Unfortunately he's suffered a major and extremely painful relapse recently and was bedridden for over a month. His friends had to take over his social media for a while as was incapable of anything. He's no longer fully bedridden but it's deeply upsetting for him. He's had to cancel loads of projects and is having to face up to the possibility of maybe never touring and possibly never being able to plan live shows, due to the unpredictably of his health. As music is his life and live performance, in front of an audience, is his favourite thing to do musically, it's absolutely killing him! He's holding on to the hope that he may be able to busk again, as he would have more control over if and when he'd perform. However even that looks a long way off atm and, considering his popularity, could prove problematic. Even before Hi Ren he was closing down entire high streets when he went busking. I know this may seem irrelevant but it's good to understand where he is now, as some of it may leak into the album. Bear in mind that just a couple of days after returning home from 18 months of intensive treatment, thousands of miles from home, the Kujo situation happened, which if you don't know about, you soon will. It was a very stressful situation for Ren and it was affecting his health. On top of all that he was having to prepare his first live solo show for more than 5 years, headlining the Secret Garden Party festival. Just before the SGP he learned that the 18 month long course of intensive treatments in Canada had failed and he could feel his health deteriorating. Not long after, he found out that the people he'd hired to record his set, at the SGP, had fucked up and the audio was completely lost. A few weeks later, while filming the new "Tales", he had a severe autoimmune flare-up, with one of his eyes, was in excruciating pain and had to be rushed to A&E. He almost lost his sight in that eye. After a week in hospital, he was allowed home, under specialist care. When recovered enough to travel, he returned to Canada, to begin another 8 months of even more intensive, unpleasant and debilitating treatment. He was only there for about a month though. Unspecified problems with the treatment meant that he is now back home in Brighton once more. Still almost back to square one. He said that he's found some good local NHS doctors this time round and he's also trying out some alternative therapies. The flare-up with his eye, which may be a recurring problem, was instigated by an incident while filming this video. During the scene in the thumbnail, someone accidently shoved an unsterilised rusty implement into his eye, cutting through the cornea. Although he was urged to stop filming, Ren insisted on finishing the shoot. The remaining scene, was the one with him at the desk, holding a sword and his own head. He said the pain was absolutely excruciating! This is from someone who knows what real pain is and has lived with pain every minute of his life for 15 years! His face was swelling up and tears were flooding from his eye. Although the video is fairly shadowy, probably deliberately at that point, you can just about see his face beginning to swell up, on both of his heads. He said, considering the head was severed, it sort of worked re' the video. He completed the scene, was rushed to hospital and came close to being blinded, for the first time. His vision is already affected by 'snow', so this was the last thing he needed. Apart from dedication to his craft and just wanting to finish an almost complete video shoot, Ren said he couldn't afford to lose the money. It was filmed right at the end of his treatment in Canada and he'd hired a small Canadian video company for the shoot, rather than his friends. He doesn't blame anyone btw and has said that the crew were wonderful and helped create a great video. :) Sorry for getting so sidetracked. As you're relatively new to Ren, I just wanted to fill you in on how things stand. :) I think that Ren, in this video, is not only killing off part of himself, he's killing the Sick Boi character, the Sick Boi album, the Sick Boi song, even the Sick Boi logo. We're in the Slaughter House now! :) Btw, you'll soon stop attempting to fit Ren into a particular style genre, or instrument. Ren writes and performs in EVERY genre and does so brilliantly. He never misses! Seriously! :) I can't wait for you to really hear his incredible vocals. When you do, bear in mind that the next time you hear him sing, equally beautifully, it'll probably be in a completely different voice, style and tone. Being Ren, he doesn't have just one voice! :) When I heard you say you were expecting to see/hear a guitar, I smiled. Ren is, of course, an incredible guitar player, whether electric acoustic or classical but Ren plays about a dozen instruments well. Half of them RIDICULOUSLY well and all self-taught He plays drums, cello, melodica, mandolin, ukulele etc etc but his main 3 instruments are guitar, (all types) bass and piano. :) Ren's a unique artist. A musical genius! A once in a generation talent! He's also an absolute diamond of a human being! As you will discover. :)
