Ren has been fighting mental health and physical illness most of his life, from voices in his head as a child, addiction to misdiagnosed Lyme disease that kept him bedridden bound for 7 years before getting a correct diagnosis. Then he was left with a damaged brain, body and immunity system. Throughout all of this, music has been his life line. He is a brilliant multi genre, creative master. I suggest the Tales of Jenny and Screech to get a blast of his creativity and guitar work.

Welcome to the multitalented genius Ren. Anthony did good recommending this for your first reaction 😊 This masterpiece is just the tip of the iceberg. A powerful icing on the Ren-cake if you will 😅 He is a relatable voice for everyone dancing in the darkness as he eloquently, with all the authenticity of someone who is painfully familiar with it, lets us know that we are not alone and inspires us to keep dancing. And in doing so, Ren has literally saved lives with his art. I trust that other RENegades will fill you in on his backstory and probably recommend Sick Boi for insight into his frustrations from being misdiagnosed for years. I will just add a suggestion to check out one of my personal favourites: Crutch feat. Bibi. It’s an older song from before Ren was finally correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease and was written after a breakdown following multiple emergency trips to the hospital. It is heart wrenching and stunning. Also if you want to understand the man behind the art (and why we all love him so dearly), check out his 1m subscribers video on defining success. Ren is not just a brilliant artist but a genuinely good human being who wants to inspire positive change in the world. Hope to see you deep down the Ren rabbit hole with the rest of us 🐰🕳️

AR got me here. The sub you earned yourself 💖 The intro have a very ominous feel to it, almost little medieval. There are so many layers in this song. You can watch this 100 times and you will pick new things up every time. My favorite line in this is the "..I go by many names also, some people know me as hope, some people know me as the voice that you hear when u loosen the noose on the rope.."..that part gets me every time. One part i haven't seen anyone pick up on is "I'll rise in the east and I'll settle on the ocean floor". To me that is that voice saying "I am the light!" In this case represented by the sun.

Really enjoyed your reaction Ren has been struggling with mental health issues since he was young However he has also been battling chronic physical illness for fourteen years just finishing nearly 18 months in treatment in Canada He was bitten by a tick and undiagnosed for seven years until he got a diagnosis from a doctor in Belgium of Lyme disease a few years later with stem cell treatment was able to start making music again. Basically loosing most of his twenties to illness He has become a voice for many forgotten people battling various things that have halted their progress and the medical industry which tends to use medicines as cure alls for profit His story as well as his talents are extraordinary

Enjoy the journey.

Hey man, welcome! Don’t stress not being able to pick up all of his words, even us native English speaking Americans need to pull up the lyrics to understand what he’s saying. For what it’s worth, he almost always posts the lyrics in the top comment on most of his songs. Ren is a great place to start with a music reaction channel-keep going with him because the rabbit hole is wide and deep, with a new genre around every corner. Your perspective of great. Anthony Ray introduced a little bite of what he offers, but rest assured he’s a whole meal. Multiple meal courses, really. Definitely do the Tale of Jenny and Screech (full version, which is actually 3 parts) next. Then, a whole smorgasbord of genres and significance is next.

Nice to hear about your background! Congrats on your championships! 🤩 Anthony Ray is a huge favourite of mine when it comes to reactors. He's good at giving every artist a fair chance, he's always showing respect and interest in knowing more. I've subscribed, I hope you do more Ren! Other artists worth checking out are: Chinchilla, Asaf Avidan, Sam Tompkins, Zeta (synthpop band), Tesseract (prog rock/metal) Please don't be afraid to pause, talk and take your time with each song! 😄 You did a great job, thank you for sharing your thoughts.

There is no bad Ren. From here, I agree Sick Boi is probably where you want to go, then the live version of Chalk Outlines or the Live version of How to Be Me with Ren and Chinchilla. If you want to check out The Big Push, try the version of I Shot the Sheriff that has Ren in red suspenders, and also check out both Romain Axisa's and Gorran Kendall's solo work--very different from either Ren or The Big Push.

It's a sign of how ingrained it is in us to approach it like a battle that even after he explains so eloquently that it's a dance and not a battle that the first words we reach for are good vs evil, a fight, overcoming it, etc. It's not really the devil our shoulder, it's the scared kid in us trying to stop us from doing something that is risky, that might fail. And you can't ignore them, or they get even more scared and scream louder. Acknowledge them, work with them, and do it anyway. You are a kind soul, Eshplume, I really look forward to this journey with you.

Welcome to the Rennaissance @EshplumeReactsMusic and 🙏 thank you ❤ for your empathetic and insightful Ren reaction! I liked 👍 it and subscribed 🔔. Ren has got an awesome back catalogue, and I am looking forward to you discovering it. So what do you want to see and hear next? A ballady thing w/guitar? 🎸🧑‍🎤🧑‍🎤💊⚪ Ren X Chinchilla - Chalk Outlines (live). Rap? 🐟&🍟🌈🚢🌊 Genesis. Boom Bap? Halftime (Nas Retake). Fun stuff? 👯👯👯👯❤🎶 Love Music. Raggae? 🎸🎸🎸🥁 The Big Push - I Shot The Sheriff/Road To Zion/Hip Hop (red suspenders). Hard beats? 💉🐷💊 Sick Boi or 🦁🐷🦍 Animal Flow. Goofy madness? 🚲🐺🦍 Losing It! (FISHER Rap). More EDM & Rap? 🥁 Down On The Beat. Masterly storytelling horrendously sad stories? ❎❎🎸🎺🏥🔪 The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full 13 min version). Another great one-take storytelling short movie? 🎸💰🐚 Money Game! Deep thoughts? ☁ Dear God, Meaning or Dominoes. Trippy electronica? 🎹💊 Diazepam. Souly-folksy Rap? "Do you Believe?". Bluesy? "Hold On!" or 🚗 Everybody Drops. More singing? 🧑‍🎤 Humble. Acapella singing? 💰🐚 Money Game Part 2 (Live) or Loco. Acapella freestyle battle-Rap? 👑 Dumb King Come. I think that -EVERYONE- can relate to this song on 1 level or another, which is why this is 1 of the primary tracks that made him blow up the way he has: whether it be 1 who struggling with the voice that says he is not skilled enough to make his mark in the world, whether it be someone suffering through chronic physical &/or mental health issues, whether it be someone fighting to find or hold onto their relationship with the divine &/or nature, whether it is a person attempting to become sober &/or fighting to maintain sobriety, even a student deciding whether to further his education or go straight into the workforce in less financially worthwhile & fewer opportunities in obtaining stable employment & struggling w/the voice that tells him that he's not intelligent or docile enough to go to university & sit through 4hr lectures while attempting to retain 4-12yrs of university studies & stacking up tens & hundreds of thousands in student loan debt to try to get a job in a field he may not be happy in or comfortable doing once he gets there... I think Ren just has a manner that makes him seem like someone you'd be friends with, like a friendly neighbor that lives down the block from you who still takes the time to stop & ask how the family is doing & what's new in your life, despite all the recognition & fame he's seen in the past few yrs. Maybe it's just because he's so transparent with his fans that we all feel he's so relatable, but he's definitely not developed the chip on his shoulder many artists seem to get once they see even a modicum of success & recognition. ✌♥️🐿

I appreciated the reaction, Eshplume! Your perspective as a professional beatboxer is quite insightful. It's not just about overcoming self-doubt but also about competing with others in the field. Your professional journey must have been challenging. I have a lot of respect for you! Now, it's going to be tougher to troll you because my respect has grown. Why couldn't this have been a terrible reaction?

Ren himself kind of pulled the portion of the song where he said "I never chase numbers, statistics, or stats" and poked fun at himself for wanting the number 1 album more than he thought he would last year. It is hard to separate artistic desire and the need/want for money and recognition, but I think some people create things hoping for money and fame and for some, it is the fact that they would still do it, not knowing if that will ever come. Nice reaction.

I’m really glad your boy got you on reactions! He’s a great reactor but more on the technical side which I know little about so I’m a big fan of his however, you are more either in tune with your emotions or more willing to share them with us the viewers. You’re both musicians so it’s interesting to hear your perspective, and the dichotomy between the two of you is interesting as well. I think you’re going to do very well on the reactions if you keep really in your life to the songs and your experiences and you wear your heart on your sleeve a lot of fans, appreciate that it’s actually how Ren makes his music and why he has so many followers and has blown up so fast..I’m from NYC but now live in Nashville.. I wish you the best of luck and look forward to watching more of your reviews. I’m excited to be one of your first subscribers when such an amazing artist I think you’re gonna love him like the rest of us. He’s so diverse. I’m not sure if you know who Knox Hill is but his reactor is also a white rapper. A lot of people kind of compare him to Eminem some people I think mean as a complement other people I think mean it as a dis in my opinion But he’s an amazing reactor, especially unwrapped songs and breaking down bars, but he has an interview with Renren. That’s about an hour and 15 minutes should watch it. It’ll give you a great perspective about how humble he is and what he’s been through in his life. Good luck man. Only thing I want to add is I really do believe that Wren does it just for the music that’s why he does so much different shit because he just does what he wants and doesn’t care what anyone thinks like he hasn’t become popular really until the last year. I’ve been following him for two years 2 1/2 years maybe And I would ask everyone I know nobody knew who he was and still hardly anybody knows who he is in the states but to be independent and pass Rolling Stones to be number one in UK is unbelievable and he’s been at over a decade. I don’t think success is going to change him but it does to many many people but I think because of his situation and particular with his health and what he’s been through his health is most important and his time is most important is what I get from him. so after you watch some more of his stuff I’ll be curious to see if you still think the same thing that you just said. If so, that’s cool too. I love that you keep it 100 hundred but he’s a unique artist very unique..

I've read a book that a good musician knows their music and showcases their talented, but a well-rounded musician is aware and explores genres outside their own. Musicians much like writers and artists support each other genre or not because they understand the art form, the challenges involved, and the satisfaction of experiencing their final product. Ren makes you experience and often relate to his lyrics.

Oh hell yeah. You're the first reactor I've ever seen really react to that moment after the demonic section when he takes a deep breath and starts over, calm and resigned but determined. That moment resonated _so hard_ with me when I first saw it. That moment of, "Well fuck... that happened. I failed to be who I want to be _again..._ But there's nothing for it but to start over, tail between my legs at first but I know I'll gather steam and be okay if I can just keep moving."

Hi Eshplume. Can I just congratulate you on 'getting it' within the first two verses. Especially in your second language... Often reactors start by thinking "this is cool; back and forth" , then as the song progresses the universal nature of song hits home, and the reaction changes to how it relates to their own life. You were on that bus from the get go!

What a fantastic start of your reaction channel!! The "World of Ren" has tons of feelings, words and compositions and the masterpiece "Hi Ren" is a great way to start! But you said it could "be any music style" - maybe you might do a reaction to Michael Gira / Swans (maybe Swans' "Oxygene" live at the Pitchfork Music Festival or a Michael Gira's love acoustic guitar version of "Failure"). After 40 years in the business at least he / Swans received a little bit (commercial) success. It is not Rap - nowadays maybe experimental alternative rock? -, and, of course, totally different to Ren. But it widens the musical horizon... (the studio version of "Failure" is a masterpiece, lyrically and musically, btw.) Anyway, I hope to see more reaction - of what songs ever! :)

It is a lot to take in. I think the culmination of the whole video is when he is doing the final "Oo" vocalizations. Both lights are flashing (the "bad" one on the left and the "good" one on the right). He is literally dancing with his demons. The "eternal dance" that never really ends, because you never completely conquer your demons-- you simply learn to co-exist with them.

Excellent reaction. I followed you from Anthony Ray. You guys have good rapport. I love that you come at this from a different angle than Anthony. It's great to get different perspectives. You have a lot of technical knowledge that is great to learn about. You mentioned that you were looking for music to react to, and that you wanted any kind. This might be a challenge then. The singer is called LP. I think you will enjoy their music if for no other reason than the voice is amazing. I would recommend the songs: Lost on You Muddy Waters When we're high Honestly, they're all good. She does a really amazing version of Beyoncé Halo. In fact, you might want to start there. Looking forward to what comes next.

Liked your relaxed way of listening, talking and sharing your thoughts. When you said beginning to which genres you would react to I thought - oh he can stick with Ren than, he is doing all of them - 😂😂 I subscribed hoping you will do them all. Cheers from Berlin 👍🍀😎

Found you through @AnthonyRay and enjoyed your take on this song. As a Pro Beatboxer I would love to hear your take on Ren's song "Loco" as the entire song is composed of Ren's vocals. You'll enjoy your trip down the Ren Rabbit Hole.

Great insights, really enjoyed hearing your perspective on this. There are so many Ren songs that I think you would enjoy, but as he covers a range of genres and styles, is there anything in particular that you would like to see? We can probably recommend a Ren for every occasion. 😂 His 1m Subscribers video is a good entry to her to know a bit more about him and how he sees the world, if you fancied getting to know the man behind the music.

Hey man, I have a question. I've asked a number of pro beatboxers over the years, including D-Low, but none have ever answered... I'm curious what the competition beatboxing community thinks of beatboxers who've taken on permanent gigs just laying down beats for vocal bands and the like? Someone like Kevin Olusola (beatboxer for Pentatonix) who was never _that_ serious about beatboxing, but caught their eye for celloboxing... or like Adam Rupp (beatboxer for Home Free) who _was_ a national champion level beatboxer, but then left that world to join a band. Are they living the dream? Are they sell-outs? Are they "serious beatboxers" or have they abandoned the pursuit of the perfection of the craft for money and fame? Would you take a gig like that? Would D-Low? What if it meant you wouldn't have time to compete anymore? Could you handle doing the same grooves for the same songs hundreds of times in a row on tour? Would you miss the variety and freedom of making beats for their own sake? There can't be all that much money in solo performance gigs and competitions, and I could easily see the culture going either way. Or do competition beatboxers judge them case by case? Like, to me, KO is alright, but his fundamentals just aren't all that clean and his technicality leaves a lot to be desired, which is funny 'cause PTX fans tend to think he's the best in the world. He probably legit is the _richest_ in the world, and I take nothing away from the dude's unfair collection of talents and skills, heh. Adam Rupp on the other hand has some of the cleanest drum kit soundscapes out there, with at least three complete drum kits he can do, from country to rock to R&B, varying what kind of snare he does, especially. I think his spit snare is one of the very best in the game as far as emulating a real snare sound, and he can pull off a clap snare sound with it too. Yet I feel like he seemed a _touch_ bored from time to time when I've seen Home Free live, just laying down a basic pump or backbeat for three songs in a row. I imagine that's one reason why they give him a drum solo in the middle of each show.
