If you want to hear his story telling and guitar genius listen too "the tales of Jenny and Screech (full)" it's a Shakesperian tragedy in 3 acts (tales) with a kick in the futs at the end. To hear him actually singing try his duet "how to he me" with Chinchilla. For just straight rapping "the hunger" for Ren style rapping "money game part Ii", which you might already know ow part of from a viral meme. But basically, he dies everything and all really, really well. The line in Hi Ren "I'm a genius" is a statement of fact.

Fucking finally, two reactors who don't pause the video every fucking thirty seconds, wait the end to make their comments, AND make great ones. Likey.
Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led him to experience psychosis. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. Ren is currently in Canada for more treatments, including surgeries, and will have to be there for at least six months (Summer of 2023). Ren is a creativ genius and an amazing artist. My suggestions for the next ones is "Chalk Outlines" and "How to be me" together with Chinchilla.

Patient seems detached, with an inability to hold eye-contact during conversation. Patient is eloquent and articulate when spoken, yet erratically bounces between philosophical and political topics with no cohesive thread. Patient has no real sense of identity, feels victimised by past trauma, often refers to his suffering as a consequence of demonic intervention. Seems to enter a state of mania when expressing dangerous political ideologies. Has expressed a difficulty in integrating with society as he feels isolated and unable to relate in social interactions. Constantly expresses delusional concerns about the fundamentals of human nature, compares it to a ‘virus’ that will wipe itself out unless radical change is undertaken. Clearly these delusions stem from an over-active mind and a paranoid disposition. Often complains about visual and auditory hallucinations involving figures in animal masks, which seem to have an Orwellian origin due to his affinity for dystopian literature.

I just saw your Hi Ren reaction, and put this journal entry of Ren's as my comment to that reaction. jAN 01, 2023 rEN~ Up until I was 9 years old, I would intermittently hear a voice in my head that was not my own. The voice was distinctly different to mine, and always negative. It would self criticise or urge me to do things I knew to be morally wrong. The most peculiar thing about the voice was that it took no effort on my behalf to produce. My own thoughts always felt like there was a process that required effort to bring them to the forefront of my mind, this voice appeared as though it was spoken by another. The sentences felt predetermined like they had already been constructed. I remember very vividly at 9 years old, becoming very frustrated with the voice. I stood in my back yard, internally screaming at the voice to be silent again and again, and it did. In a flash there was silence, to the point where my head felt like an empty room. I wasn't used to the quiet and that voice never returned. It almost felt lonely in my head. When I got older I had intermittent bouts with auditory hallucinations where I would hear perfect symphonies, usually at night when drifting off to sleep. They were so clear that they sounded like they were emanating from a radio in the corner of my room. I knew they weren't there, but for some reason they never came with the feeling of fear. I also recall sitting on a bus at the age of 15, and hearing the sound of a crowded room, with about 100 voices chattering away, I was the only person apart from the driver on the bus. These experiences were always very brief, and few and far between. My last hallucination was during an intense bout of psychosis in 2015, and was my first visual hallucination. I was walking down a pavement after jumping out my mums car in a crossroads in a moment of frustration and distress with my condition. I was trying to run from myself. What appeared to be a homeless man with a dark complexion approached me, and asked me what was wrong. I explained that I had been sick most my life, and I wasn't sure I had the strength to continue. He looked at me, and smiled and told me 'everything is going to be okay in the end Ren.' I had not told him my name. There was something so overpoweringly sincere about this very simple message, which brought with it an overwhelming feeling of inner peace, and in a flash, he vanished. My rational brain always linked these experiences to what the doctors have told me, that there are parts of my brain compromised by the autoimmunity in my body. That the myelin sheaths surrounding the complex electrical system that conduct my thoughts were damaged and compromised, causing these lucid experiences that I knew did not exist inside the physical world. The part of me that edges away from logical and rational thought always attributed these thoughts to some kind of otherworldly intervention, that made my thoughts the battleground of some spiritual tug of war. For a long time I never really acknowledged this part of myself, for with it brought the danger and stigma of sounding like a crazy person. I decided with my latest release, to the best of my ability, to capture and express this chess match of thought. Hi Ren comes out in just over 24 hours. I can't wait for you all to hear it.

Ren has brought authenticity To all of his art. To be told it’s in your head for years is a torture that’s really impossible to describe., but his illness gave him time to learn to play instruments,to write,to sing,produce, act . He has a great body of work for someone without a company behind him. That’s actually what is so wonderful about his work ,it’s not contrived, it’s him and his associates making music and art without having to have some money guy trying to make it more sellable. So we feel it each in our own way. He will break your heart and make you happy. Enjoy

The song structure itself is incredible. It starts off as a battle between his positive (Angel) and negative (Demon) aspects, the negative makes an overpowering last ditch effort to reign supreme, but ultimately fails as the final act, being the "God" aspect, emerges Triumphant, though still acknowledging and accepting that it will always be a battle because we are all "a coin with 2 different sides". It's a powerful piece of performance art that gives "broken" people HOPE. It's a beautifully cathartic and raw musical masterpiece. Ren is special. Welcome to the Ren rabbit-hole, it's a trip worth taking.

For me - I feel that the section of the last falsetto part stops part way through and doesn't really end... I mean... I was expecting more notes in the chord sequence. 12:12 Lulu, what you said made perfect sense. He's not only having an outlet in his music for his struggles and his pain, he also helps hundreds of thousands of people with it. Everybody has their demons, in doubt, self sabotage, anxiety, etc. It's good to talk about it, because that's how you can get better and mentally healthier. Also by integrating and accepting your darkness/ your shadow without letting it take control and without giving in to it too much. Then you can heal. Acceptance, compassion, mindfulness, self love and faith will help you in that process and beyond it. :)

I really appreciated your genuine heartfelt reaction.. “Hi Ren" is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar since December; it went viral and has garnered more than 6 million views since its debut, but he has been creating great music for more than ten years. Ren’s music videos are generally recorded live, often in a single take, although not necessarily the first take, and from various camera angles. His release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." Many of Ren’s songs resonate with people because he addresses struggles that many others face every day. Ren plays multiple instruments (acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, piano, drums), has impressive vocals, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. He is considered by many a modern bard; he calls his music “bardcore.” Ren’s earliest recordings on KZbin are from his time in a band called “Trick The Fox,” consisting of Ren and his buddies Charlie and Tommy. Unfortunately, the band performed only briefly due to Ren’s onset of health issues. They are very talented. A fun clip to watch is “The Mash Up.” Ren’s trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" has been likened to a Shakespearean tragedy and is a prime example of his genius; it is a master’s class in storytelling and also showcases his guitar skills. The three acts are haunting, and the conclusion will catch you off guard. The trilogy needs to be watched in the order given, as this is the flow of the storyline and is best watched as a whole rather than piecemeal. Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me,” “Sexual Healing,” “One Dance/Drunk in Love”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice. His live music videos are especially impressive. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world. Ren’s Hip Hop/Rap style songs are all worth checking out if you enjoy this genre; they are pretty amazing. Check out “The Hunger,” “Genesis,” “What You Want,” “Losing it (FISHER rap retake),” “Right here, right now (Fatboy Slim one shot retake),” "Life is Funny," “Love Music (Parts 1, 2, and 3),” “Crucify Your Culture,” “Power,” and his latest release, “Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake).” As I recently discovered, Ren also recorded a cover of “Can't Help Falling In Love (Elvis Cover),” that is simply beautiful. Then there are his performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the moon/No Diggity”), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”), which are all great. "The Big Push" busking sessions, concerts, and live recordings all are awesome and well worth checking out. Their covers of "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop," "Wade in the Water/Nina Simone/Trouble so Hard," "An Englishman in New York," “Bongo Bong,” “War Pigs,” the songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” “Sweet Little Lady," "It's Alright," "Watch Out," “Dignity,” and so many others are equally impressive. In anticipation of his stay in Canada for more treatments, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next six months that he expects to be gone. He released “Sick Boi” and “Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve retake),” which is another masterful work. Ren has hinted that he might release his newest song on March 29, which is his birthday.

Thank you for not hiding your feelings. It´is as you say, the way he makes us all realize, that everyone of us is fighting with that inside-voice, that tries to drag us down, to tell us, how worthless we are. Great Reaction. Get ready to go down the Ren rabbit hole. I would recommend "Chalk Outlines" , "Sick Boi", "How To Be Me (Live). For his rapping skills and lighter topics, "The Hunger", "Losing It" and "Power". For a pure story telling masterclass, do "The Tale of Jenny and Screech" and "Violet's Tale". Do all three of those in 1 video because they go together. Warning: you can't put Ren in any categories. He literally does everything: composes, makes his own beats, raos, does reggae l, ska, and jazz. Rock? Yep. He sings. Hes got swag. I really cannot fathom why he hasnt blown up yet. He has a back catalog going back years and years. And its all amazing. Maybe we all werent ready for him. Oh one more strong recommendation. "Money Game Parts 1 and 2" You might recognize it because, a certain part of the song made Internet rounds during the Trump/Covid time. It was supposed to be for three (3) months, but the disease had progressed so far that he will be in therapy and hospital for six (6) months. I am glad his music has found traction. Not every "song" in his catalogue is as deep and heavy as this. If you would like to react to his singing voice I would suggest: "Ren X Chinchilla - Chalk Outlines (live)" or "Ren X Chinchilla - How To Be Me (live)" where he teams up with a beautiful artist named Chinchilla. For more Rap I would suggest: "Ren - The Hunger" or "Ren - Losing it ( FISHER rap retake )" ... for another great story like "Hi Ren" I would suggest: "Ren - The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)"

Its symptoms are misdiagnosed way too often and you want to catch it early. “Losing It” is a fun change of pace. I’ve been enjoying all of his work and it’s wonderfully eclectic, consistently clever … he has obviously worked hard at his craft and there is empathy in many of his songs. Well, more or less...I made my psychiatrist (I'm getting treated for a bipolar disorder type 2) listen to this and he called this bullshit (he actually used another not vulgar word that doesn't actually exist in english, but that's the point). Keep in mind that he's considered one of the best psychiatrists in europe since years, he's not a random idiot.

@@Nico0o0o0 i would reconsider another psychiatrist bc he is downplaying Ren's experiance and that is a big no no.
@Nico0o0o09 ай бұрын
@@jolandafrijlink6103 no it's not about that. He's not downplaying anything. What he meant by "bullshit" is an advice like "in a condition like yours, the last thing you should do is drown yourself in listening music like this that will never help you cheer up your moral, but only let you down even more". I know him since more than 1 year now and what he tells the most is "you're not a diagnosis". You're bipolar, you're depressed etc? Fine, go on, you're not branded by this, you're yourself and you go do whatever you want anyway. That's why he doesn't like if people would listen to these kind of music. Simply put: "be aware that you have a problem, but don't convince yourself that you are ill"

Look at Johns face at 8:35 after Ren sings Some people know me as the voice that you hear when u loosen the noose on the rope. Thats close to cracking. The way you twist your face and bite hard just to prevent yourself from loosing it. Almost poetic just looking at it.

You explained it perfectly, in that this song makes us cry, not because of his struggle, but because we can relate to his struggle and that we are not alone.

I think you made an interesting point. I have seen many reviews on this video. no one has ever pointed out that it is not so much empathy for Ren, though there is that, but a realization of our self. we all have the internal struggle.

Ren is therapy for so many from one song he helps so many people open up in ways therapists struggle to do in person. We as consumers and fans of his music and his message need to push his channel he should have millions of subs on his channel this is a crime he's saves people with his music or at least helps them by them opening up and talking
