Thank you all so much for all the love in the comments! And a special thanks to those who brought Ren's fundraiser to my attention. This man has given the world the priceless gift of his creative genius, and even though I've only just learned about him, I feel deeply connected to his message, his cause, and his journey. If any of you can spare to donate to help him pay for his medical treatments, please head over to his GoFundMe page and give what you can♥ gofund.me/b0f1006c

I originally thought it meant loosen the noose on the rope as in, not getting hanged. But then I saw Renata's reaction and she mentioned mercy, and I remembered there's two ways to die from hanging, snapped neck or suffocation, and how you get the snapped neck is by making the noose part loose so the force of your body dropping down on the rope snaps your neck. Then that line hit so different for me and I cry everytime I hear it, because he's not saying you escape death or anything, it's like he's saying you don't have to punish yourself, sometimes you feel such shame that you want to keep reliving and punishing yourself for it.

Ren has been trying hard to respond to everyone that has reacted to this (which is cool in itself), but it has been so viral that he has trouble keeping up. He is now undergoing treatment in Canada and will be there for a bit. He wants to be known for his music, not his past, but both are really the story in this song. He recently posted on his page the latest on his health explaining exactly where he is at and asked all who reacted and who are curios to be pointed back there in order to keep his incoming mail and messages and such down. www.youtube.com/@RenMakesMusic/community

At this point, with so many reactions out there to Hi Ren, if the reactor keeps pausing, I stop watching the video. If the reactor doesn't get that he needs to shut his gob, a few minutes in, I leave. The pausing should stop once they realise they are watching a genius at work. If I get a bar-repeater, I'm out.
@StonefieldJim4
@StonefieldJim4 Жыл бұрын
@redbandita020 Hear, hear! I'm sick and tired of 'reacters' making their videos all about them. The pausing abruptly switches the emphasis back to their need to seek attention. Yes, I'm interested in reactions and reflections, but they should always come after the song has finished. There are honourable exceptions.
@redbandita020
@redbandita020 Жыл бұрын
@@StonefieldJim4 The thing is, lately, after discovering Tom MacDonald (#HOG), I watch a lot of bar heavy reactions, and with pp like Cliff Beats, I seriously enjoy the dissection. However, Hi Ren is special, and any music lover with an IQ higher than his shoe size should realise that this is not your generic rap tune and STFU. I look out for other reaction features, the actual in-the-moment reaction. The answer to the Oo-oo melody almost 100% triggers, "I did not expect that", but then, you see ppl with their mouths open. Loads can't handle the "Newsflash" and following, most (men) react to the "loosen the noose" line. Even if it's just a lifted eyebrow. But for me, the above separates the "good" reactors from the chaff.

Ren has the same gift for "conversational cadence" that Eminem has... And (just like Em) I'm 100% positive Ren's life experience was necessary for him to be chosen to create this It transcends music and even entertainment There is a visceral nature to this that creates a moment and places one smack in the middle of it, as if it were live and you were there in the moment it is being created. Even re-watching it takes one right back to that place. It's not just music. It's something else.

Take your time…I heard this for the first time over a week ago. I’m still reacting to it. The two sides of him in the song is compelling, but the representation of the forces of light and dark is also very well done. It’s masterful, in every way. It’s part song, part an acted out play. The rise of hope from the chaos monologue moves me to tears every single time. As someone who has had struggles with depression, the pendulum description is amazingly accurate. You always know the darkness is there, you just don’t want to swing to far to that side. It would seem to me, to be this raw, Ren has been as close to the edge of the abyss as you go…and still return.

Watching your eyes, you start being amused and steadily realize how fucking serious he is and your expression becomes more serious and concerned and sad. You understand this song is not about trying to entertain....it's about trying to make you understand his pain.

Ren is what we didnt know we needed. He moves a ton of hearts an minds all over the world and gives us hope to lift ourselves up and allso giving us a way of knowing ourselves better. And the best part is that he reminds us that we are not alone, wich a lot of us kind of forget.

This is why we watch reaction videos is to have someone feel it alongside us. As an aside, I’ve noticed that men will tend to shut down a little and women feel it and really process it correctly.

I watched the video yesterday for the first time myself. I'm a musician who has also been battling major health issues... this hit me so hard. I have been going through and watching all the reactions to this song, and I swear every single time it is like watching it for the first time still, the raw emotion... the struggle he faces, it resonates in every fiber of my being. I'm glad I happened to come by your channel as well, I felt what you felt, and there's just something about sharing a moment in time with someone, even if they never even knew it... that cements a point in time when worlds collide. I appreciate your take and gave you a follow. I don't post much, but I have some music that I've done on my channel. Completely different as I am not a singer but I play every other instrument myself in them. Hope all is well Taylor ❤

First time on your channel. Was a fan from the moment i realized you were wearing a TOOL shirt. This song hits pretty close to home for me and reacted about the same way you did the first time i heard it. Thanks for your honesty. What a performance by Ren and what a piece of art and what a gift to the world this song is. 🤘👍

GIRRLLLLL OMG RIIIIIIGHTTTT! I've never seen your videos, but it was intriguing to me because you never see female reaction videos, or I don't ever, so I clicked on you. I just. heard this song and watched this video yesterday for the first time and have listened to about 40 times today alone, so I was super interested in your take (all the other ones are "rappers" reacting or "psychotherapists" reacting, so I wanted just someone else's take that wasn't coming from any angle. And LITERALLY I just stood here watching your face do the SAME THING my face did when I saw it last night, and I video'd it, so it's like my reaction to your reaction. After I heard this I had no words, same, so I just messaged it to a million people and said "I've never heard anything like this, but it's ridiculously relatable" because, as you said, this Piece of Art is so humble and vulnerable and raw and real that the irony is that, even though it's so "relatable", nobody else does this and I don't know why. Who are we REALLY if we are not authentically ourselves? Any sugar coated on your authentic self is simply a filter you hide behind so that you can fit in wherever it is that you think you need to fit in. I have never heard of Red, so I knew nothing either, but my reaction was an EXACT duplicate as yours. And it's not like "this guys gna go far" the way I feel...I. just feel happy for him to have the opportunity to express what he needs to express regardless of who hears it, because "why should he concern himself with that" I also feel like I'm jealous of the fact that that HAD or HAS to be the most cathartic feeling ever and I want that. Anyway, what?? I have no idea where all that came from...except it's probably the result of processing this still, so day 2 after hearing this caused me to write a novel...sorry...but also thank you for your video.

He's fighting his own internal shadow.. it's not about religion.. it's about humanity. He even says it in his own words... he stands on his own two feet... he is HOPE, he is REPRIEVE (the feeling of having the loosening of the noose) .. he has become VICTORY even though he struggles with the "dance". He's learned to win the dance.. it's not a battle... it's a life long dance, and he's learned how to win it. This man is an ICON.

If you look at the guitar playing and vocals it becomes clear, this was a live performance. The classical structure to the music is distorted and spoiled perfectly in places as if the shadow is creeping in. The difference in not only voice but speech patterns and tempo is like nothing I've ever seen. I have only seen this type of struggle depicted this complex in renaissance pantings of the 1400s. This is a true masterpiece, blows my mind, every time I watch it I noticed some other stroke of genus 🤯
