Good things to know about Ren: 1: this was performed live and audio is a single take…only took 4 tries. Video has a few cuts for closup shots, but the audio is continuous. Ren clearly likes pushing the boundaries of filmed musical performance. Jenny and Screech is 3 single 1-take moving audio and video performances. And before everyone yells at you, do a reaction to the full versions with all 3 tales. 2: Ren has been very sick for a long time. He was bitten by a tick and contracted Lyme disease. He was misdiagnosed for many years and treated for mental disorders instead of the actual disease he had. The combination of the psychiatric drugs he took and years of untreated Lyme disease left him in a state where he would spend 23 hours a day in bed. He was finally properly diagnosed with Lyme disease and got stem cell treatments that made him feel better, but he is still quite ill. He wrote this song, Sick Boi, and a few others that haven’t come out yet, but is currently in Canada receiving intensive daily treatments so he can’t fully enjoy the success he is finally getting…though he has been watching reaction videos and commenting on them, so don’t be shocked if he drops by. 3: He got his start busking in London and Brighton, is talented in just about every facet of making music, and was signed by Sony right before he got sick. He was unable to produce music so Sony dropped him. He’s a staggering talent who writes performs, directs, sings, raps (Ren can Rap Rap), produces, plays most instruments, and and is clearly an incredible actor. Waiting for his first streaming series. 4: he collaborates with lots of other cool artists…you’ll enjoy his collaborations with Chinchilla. He also has a band called The Big Push 5: Go and read his community page…it’s worth it SUBSCRIBED! 1:18

Wail shepherds and cry, wallow in ash (all limbs & wings removed), most beautiful of the flock (Satan - remember birds are a symbol of fallen angels). For these days of slaughter were for your dispersion to come out. And you fell out, the most desired of the vessels (Lucifer). There is no flight, for the perishing shepherds. This is the kind of artistry that gives "broken" people hope. Ren, through this performance piece, has become to a lot of people exactly what he stated in the song, "...the voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope". So powerful, so impactful. The song structure itself is incredible. It starts off as a battle between his positive (Angel) and negative (Demon) aspects, the negative then makes an overpowering last ditch effort to reign supreme, but ultimately fails as the final act, being the "God" aspect, emerges Triumphant, though still acknowledging and accepting that it will ALWAYS be a battle because we are all "a coin with 2 different sides". It's a beautifully cathartic and raw musical masterpiece. Ren is truly special. Welcome to the Ren rabbit-hole, it's a trip worth taking. This was the 4th take he did and yes, it was done live. Wait until you hear some of his other stuff, especially his storytelling ("The Tale of Jenny & Screech"). You haven't even touched the breadth of this young man's talent yet. #PerformanceArtPinnacle

Thanks so much for reacting to Ren and sharing his talent and his message. I've enjoyed watching many people connect with this piece on a very personal level. It's something that resonates with nearly everyone. Self-doubt will always be with us. We just have to learn the best way for each of us to deal with it.

Never gets old on seeing people act like this is the first time or more they heard the song before the video.

Thanks for doing this reaction. Sounds like your headphones are causing feedback/interference. I recommend chalk outlines as your next Ren music to review/react to.

Great reaction video (I've seen a few) no you did not analyse and comment a lot but you gave a look into your own soul by locking up after your initial response this piece hit you like a brick and I wished I could read your mind at that point. I expected the second part of ren singing would make you smile and that was a small relief I would say you have your struggles in not allowing your emotions to show (except the positive emotions). Your emotions are of great value to express don't put them on a scale (resulting in keeping them for yourself). Share it express them you deserve to be heard and you have not any obligation to keep up the appearances. You have one obligation and that would be being yourself and feel the space to breathe and express yourself no matter what. Love for you (and all the Rennies) from Holland !!! take care 🙏

Boy, you are hitting all the biggies for reactors right away. I agree with Boman891, "Chalk Outlines" with Chinchilla is a great song and well worth a reaction. Good Work.

Thank you, Rachel, for your reaction. REN's "Hi Ren" clearly hit you so hard and left you (mostly) for a loss of words. Follow up on the comments, recommendations and input of Jeff Wilson (?), 12:30 which is I value also so much. In addition, to pick up more about REN, you should also listen to an interview of about 1hr13m done by a lady therapist whose name slips me now, unfortunately. I love your reaction. ❤

I hear a kind of buzzing noise in my headphones whenever the microphone picks up your voice, it's also present in your last two videos, only your first upload didn't have that. Other than that's its perfect, you even have a much higher sound quality on the videos you are watching than alot of vocal coaches who react on KZbin, well done. Keep that charming personality going 😁

Haven't seen it mentioned but it's interesting that he both mentions in the song and his speach about his shadow essentially dancing with the light and in the video, you constantly see that with the darker side of Ren talking.

New to the channel..but i guess everyone is, including you! LoL!! Love your reactions so far and LOVE that you have started down the "REN Rabbit Hole"! His back story is very interesting and he is a bucket full o talent!!! You may have seen his lav mic, nearly all of his videos if not all are "one take". As many have said, "Chalk Outlines" is amazing but I also would love to suggest "The Hunger" to see a different side of REN...and, he was par of a Band called The Big Push, their cover of "I Shot the Sherriff" (the I shot the sheriff/road to zion/hip hop one) shows how amazing he is on guitar too!! Look forward to seeing your journey here, be well!

This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song. Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome. There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me-much the same as this song resonates. As a person who’s never been able to escape negative self-talk and imposter syndrome, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that already resides within me-was sooo important. It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it. *Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison. You are *stronger* than that voice. You are stronger than you can *possibly* know… until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.

Great reaction!! There's so much more with Ren and his band The Big Push to check out. His Hunger song they found the hospital chair. The Pig mask represents greed and everything we get lied to about, big pharma, democracy and the music industry lying to us. No songs disappoint!

Thanks for the reactions so far. I have enjoyed your takes on these first four videos and look forward to the upcoming ones. These are all good and unique performances. Some other unique performers and performances that you would enjoy are Haley Reinhardt w/ Post Modern Jukebox "Creep" and Home Free "Man of Constant Sorrow". Also, I think you may have a bad connection or cord on your microphone because we are getting a little 60hz hum whenever you speak. It isn't too problematic but it is noticeable. Thanks for doing these. I look forward to following your progress on this channel
