I never usually break down my own words because I love letting people apply their own meaning, but there was one line I wanted to explain. The title of the song. Alot of people took this to mean "The greatest Of Our Time" "Look for all the answers that I never seem to find, Till then I guess I'm still the illest of our time" Its my reluctance to be the illest - the clue is in the word 'guess' - ive spent the better part of a decade looking for solutions to the damage lyme disease dealt with countless doctors visits, and am still in that boat. "Illest" can also mean "dopest" "best" etc. So it's a bit of a double entendre. Same as "Sick boi" This theme is repeated with the line "elementary dear Watson you might find" cause Sherlock Holmes was always searching for the clues to piece the puzzle together, which is very relatable when trying to piece together parts of a very complex health picture, anyone with a very complex illness will relate to almost having to become your own detective. And finally "A pathologic entity - if eveything is set in stone then this is how its meant to be" Acceptance that this might just be the cards I've been dealt. To search for answers and simultaneously accept that chronic illnest may be your fate is a bit of a paradox because it is the rejection of acceptance that spurs you forward in the persuit of answers, but it is the acceptance that you may always be sick that let's you lead a more peaceful life... so one must walk this contradictory line between both opposing states to have the motivation to find the answers whilst not being so outcome dependent. Still haven't mastered this, but think it's an interesting concept" posted by Ren Gill (The Illest of the Ill) Me: Yo to me it's like Ren is psyching himself up to get bigger, how much bigger? Yeah Ren confirmed it in a post. He said it was filmed in a derelict warehouse with multiple floors, last summer in Brighton. He said the building was inhabited by crazy, scary homeless junkies, one of which confronted them on arrival and then recognised Ren and then gave Ren and his crew a guided tour of the building. Ren said one junkie during the tour was going crazy, smashing windows and stuff, sounds wild. Ren said it made the whole shoot really tense and they couldn't wait to get out of there. Sounds more like the Bronx in the nineties 😂

His lyrical use of double entendres is amazing, "I'm ready I'm heavy, I’m Mercury, I am Freddy,..." Mercury being a HEAVY metal, Freddy Mercury....😵‍💫 C'MON! Even the title is a double entendre - "Illest of our Time". He's firing warning shots in this one and making sure everyone takes notice. Nice to see him showing some attitude and confidence, being a little braggadocious. I Love it. He did a live stream right after the video dropped (on Twitch), and to see his genuine, emotional reaction to how many reaction channels had already posted videos within an hour of the songs release, was truly heartwarming. He shows his soul. This young man deserves every bit of love , support, and success he's finally getting. I couldn't be happier for him, especially for someone so talented, so driven, and without question, someone who has been forged through fire. Love this kid! Fan for life.

Yup - I'm walking around, singing Ren's music. Was looking forward to your reaction! Ren has been able to exercise and rebuild his body after getting a stem cell transplant in 2016. He had lost a great deal of weight over the years, sick with chronic Lyme symptoms and long term damage. His diet has remained very limited though (according to his posts) - just meat and some vegetables. Hopefully, after he completes treatment in Canada, he will be able to lead a more normal life. Pessimism is a more accurate picture of the future. Now, it can blind you, too. You can't just live like that, not trying because there's no hope. It reminds me of the ancient Greek/Roman stories of kings that had "soothsayers", which were basically people who foresaw potential bad things and warned the kings about them so they could prepare for them. The stories talked about them like they were prophetic, but being a person with depression/anxiety myself, I prefer to think of them as people like me, who just saw what COULD happen and prepared for it. They were ready for calamity, and that seemed magical to other people.

What I love about Ren is that he's always taking you on a trip and you don't know where, how, why, what, but, man, this is always a fascinating experience. It's like the guy knows all the tricks how to capture your interest, to make you intrigued and pay attention till the end and then play again and again to catch all the nuances. This is such a lost art in a lot of modern rap. From a relatively recent times I'm reminded of "This is America" by Childish Gambino - another rapper who knows what's up and how to do this shit properly.

Anthony, this was AWESOME. I KNEW that you would absolutely LOVE this. This video was quite the creation. The mood was dark, serious, confident and strong. The beat, urgent and demanding. The delivery, makes us wonder WHY we would EVER question what he is saying are FACTS. And then there are the lyrics. Starting with the title, each word, sentence and phrase has more than one meaning. As far as I know, all of the music videos were shot before he even left for Canada. He talked on a recent livestream how he's physically not in a state of health where filming these things would be advised. From the sounds of it, the whole album has been done for a while and the music videos for the songs that have one are already all filmed.
