Ignore all the crazy commentors so outraged by your opinion. Your thoughts come from a good place. Remember that the extremists are always the loudest and most people can understand where your feelings are coming from. You articulated yourself very compassionately.

In a world of division and unwillingness to understand who thinks differently (all of which Ren is usually an active spokesperson towards awareness), I thank you for your explanation of your feelings and at the same time considering how artistic expression can be a valid thing, even if it stirs our mentality (and sometimes that's even the intention!). It's rare that we find in these interwebs such clarity, tolerance, rationality and understanding, and it's something I think it's in dire demand nowadays, so really thank you!

@@wynandfouriemusic indeed it's great to face these topics with no fear. I hope someday we figure it out, as a species, at least to a degree where war & oppression become obsolete. Have a great vacation, we'll be here tuning to this "Ren-sponsored" journey and everything that comes along with it!

I understand your point of view. Ren commented on this and said himself that he is the last person to throw women down, that's all he stands against. He said he was trying to relate to Kujo with what would offend him the most in his place, so that's why he used that word. It was just a calculated insult to sting as deeply as possible. Which is understandable for me in this case, after dragging him through the mud for two whole months when Ren kept his cool and tried to be accommodating. Also yes, words can hurt, but only someone who allow it. Words are just words after all, we are those who give them power 🙏

Kudos to you for being transparent and raw, by sharing your story; who you are and what has formed you so far. Do you understand that by doing this you are validating so many ppls experience? You are healing ppl just as Ren does. You might feel you are being put on a pedestal but embracing humility might be more comfortable for you than the pedestal. 🧡

On your explanation, thank you for it, I'm glad you shared. I agree in regards to what you said about taking it as being an artistic expression. At the beginning of the video Ren shows us his two inner sides arguing, and it is the dark side of Ren that Steps forward from that point. Everything said and done is the worst of him if you like, the mad/bad/evil/negative/hating/aggressive and angry personality that has taken over. Rens hopeful and kind side has stepped back. As you said you yourself have used the very term you know dispose. As have we all said things, either aloud or in our heads, in times of frustration or anger that we are ashamed to admit to. I think this was Rens truth at the time, warts and all. I love his honesty 😊

I am still catching up on your Ren reactions and I just started watching your original content, plus with all the activity around the holidays, you taking a break gives me a chance to catch up. Enjoy your vacation! Thank you for explaining your reaction to some of the language in "Kujo Beatdown." I'm a 67 year old woman and it's pretty hard to offend me, so I didn't blink at the language but I find the fact you respect your sister so much that your talk left such a deep impact on you really touching.

Language is almost always filtered thru the listener's personal experience. I was bullied growing up, both at school and at home. It took years for me to build my armor, and as I got older I learned that words only have as much power as I give them. That may be why I didn't blink an eye at what Ren said in KBD. I totally understand how it can be triggering tho for those with different filters of experience. No one is right or wrong on this And when that video ended, my first thought was Ren is man who practices what he preaches because I remember what he said about hatred for your fellow human in his one million subs video. And he did exactly that. He sat with it, felt it, expressed it (brilliantly imo) and then let it go As for THIS Ren song, I freaking love it! (surprise surprise) Can't wait to see what direction the Renlette Wheel takes us next... Enjoy your holiday and be safe, Wynand! ♥️🐰♥️🐰♥️🐰♥️

I was taken aback when I first heard him say slut, but I’m 59 years and it’s not ever been a word I’ve said. But then I reasoned that the entire Kujo video is obviously an exaggerated artistic expression and I was fine with it. The one thing that stood out to me was that he didn’t touch her like he did “Kujo.” I appreciated that.

I have found it very interesting to see how different reactors responded to Ren using the s word. For me personally, I don't get offended by curse words or slurs. I was taken aback a bit hearing that specific word in the song because it came out of Ren's mouth. That's not how Ren treats people. But, as he was angry and frustrated, I understood that he had to let that out. I also understand why some didn't like it. I'm glad you explained why it bothered you. This is how it should be. Respect to your sister! Thanks for your nuanced discussion at the beginning. This is one of the liscenced tracks on the Sick Boi album. It's called "Cruel Intentions" (2022) by Diamond Style. He's said that everything on the new album is all his. Nigella Lawson is a British food writer and cook. Blood on the leaves is also a lyric from a Nina Simone song, Strange Fruit, which was later quoted by Kanye West on the Yeezus track Blood on the Leaves Broken mirrors: and also 7 years of bad (eg. undiagnosed?) luck. I love that he flipped the Bible verses here. Did you see the Welsh dragons on the shields?

This is only somewhat related to the video but I feel like people confuse being introverted/extroverted with being outgoing/shy. Being introverted just means you charge your 'social battery' by being alone while extroverts charge it by being around people. You can be an outgoing confident introvert and you can be a shy extrovert

This! 💯Thank you Kaudia! My best friend in the world shines even brighter when she’s with people. People charge her batteries! She’s always been so comfortable and loves social interaction. Me, I’m more comfortable with myself. You have perfectly captured in words what I feel around people. I’ve always experienced “my day after social interactions internal battery crash.” People suck my batteries dry. Even grocery shopping will cause it. I wear headphones and have my playlist on. When I forget the headphones, it’s tough. I get it done, but I’m an anxious rabbit. I can socialize with people I know and have a great time, but still feel drained the day afterwards. I finally have a perfect analogy to describe introvert / extrovert to my friends that makes sense to me. 💐

Thank you for speaking out against your discomfort with the S word. I'm very impressed that you took your sister's opinion to heart and adopted it into your life as well. Language is a tool used to denigrate women in a way that does not have male counterparts. I also admire sharing your discomfort with Ren's fan base. You risked making yourself a target to speak your truth. I am a huge fan of Ren, but no one person is perfect. I think the reason i wasn't as taken back by his slurs because i know of the man that Ren really is and he would be the exact person that's also making videos on the ways words can hurt so much. And that may have been his entire reason for doing it... it was their words that hurt him!

Ren talked about his use of the word slut- it was very deliberate. He said he chose that word as the one that would hurt Kujo the most. Of course, in real life, Ren wouldn't use that word to insult anyone. It was the "bad/dark" Ren character who used it.

This is a difficult one for non English/British/Irish/Welsh people to break down lyrically, most of them get it, some don't though. At the beginning there is a lot of comedy going on, the Salmonella reference at the start has more to do with guys drinking 10 pints and 10 shots, swigging from a random bottle of wine between pubs, smoking weed as well, and then blaming the reason they feel ill the next day must be a dodgy Kebab at 2 in the morning or a dodgy piece of chicken at a barbecue before they went on the town ... Don't get me started on Nigella Lawson

I completely respect you for not liking the word, I respect you even more for stating it, and not being a shrinking violet, your honesty is commendable. "Blood on the leaves..." I think references the 1956 Billie Holliday song, "Strange Fruit", where she sings the line "Blood on the leaves, blood at the root....". That song's about racism and slavery, but so is "Trouble so hard...", the Vera Hall song that Ren loves so much. He said that in no way is he comparing his sickness to slavery, it's just that the lyrics resonate with him. Incidentally, when you get to watch the 8 chapters, you'll see that Ren refers to himself as the local -S word- to explain his own period of promiscuity. As with the -C word- in "Kujo Beatdown", in certain UK demographics slurs that in other cultures are exclusive to women aren't gender-specific in the UK. I'm not even sure they recognize the -C word- is commonly used as a slur for a woman's anatomy in other cultures, they just think of the definition comparable to "idiot". It's commonly used as a term of affection among male friends. When you mentioned that you were financially privileged in your youth, leading to your own over-contemplation of existence, I couldn't tell if you have the impression that Ren comes from a privileged background? He describes his background as being impoverished. You will learn much more about Ren as you continue your journey, if you do.

The thing is, when someone thoughtful, caring and compassionate as Ren is pushed to that point, the real question should be, damn, what did dude do to make Ren react like that? Loved this reaction to this beautiful banger. It may be a bit dark, but the song resonates with my own long and ongoing health journey. Dark thoughts can coexist with good thoughts when you are trying to navigate that space. The lyrics and imagery click for me. It was helpful to know someone else has had similar thoughts and experiences. The effects Ren used on his voice were incredible and made the hook even more powerful, imho. BTW, you do an exceptional impression of Ren’s darker self from Hi Ren. Spot on! So good that you made me laugh. This is why I just love your content. We can laugh one minute and have an interesting discussion from your artist’s POV that is very relevant in the same reaction. When you shared your story about your conversation with your sister, it was honest and sincere and helped people understand your thoughts. Your words might help others to look at things differently. Your sister is loving and courageous for laying out her honest feelings. You are a wonderful person to be able to hear her out and then take the time to think and process what she said. Too many people just react, dig in, and want to win / be right. It’s always about winning with so many people. I don’t understand that mindset. It’s a sign of a closed mind and lack of curiosity and understanding. If only people would learn that if they want to get respect from others, they have to give respect to others too. Sharing some of your story about your younger years shows others that we all have to learn and grow from our mistakes and experiences. We’re all human. No one is perfect. There are a lot of people who carry unnecessary shame about small bumps in the road of life. I agree with Ren that the most healing way to get rid of negative emotions is to release them through your art. Even if a person doesn’t think they’re creative, there’s many ways to offload the black energy without taking it out on the world around us. The best lesson is the ability to be able to feel secure enough to talk openly about things to trusted people or even just write it down and burn the pages in a fire pit, or send it through a paper shredder (very cathartic) You have wisdom and character my friend, you obviously have a very special, loving, and strong family bond. You are fortunate. Enjoy your holidays, Fourie family. We will look forward to seeing more content from you in January.

I enjoy learning about the origins of words & how they have changed over time. Slut originally meant a dirty or messy man (used by Chaucer!). It geadually became used to describe a person (usually a woman) of "loose" moral character (used by Dickens). It is now mostly used as an insult, but it is also beginning to be reclaimed by women as a source of power & pride - for example Slut Walks. (I just remembered 1 of my daughters who, having ended a 4 year relationship that began when she was 18 told me that she was entering her "slut phase". I just told her to have fun but use protection )

@Caseyd1966 I think it's ok for women to use the word, the same as it's ok for African Americans to say the N word, but not for men to use it in an insulting context. I'm not horribly offended by it or anything but it belongs in the past. My Mum, who would now be 98, used to say that when she was young, it still meant a dirty or unclean housewife.

The weekend warrior guy is who he is turning into (the different accent - red eyed ren), while he feels that inside he is more introverted... which he is if you see how he acts in interviews. See the smashed looking glass in the video. Exactly what Ren means, is a good question but I feel he does ont like the agressive side so much but it gets him further and is more fun... even in Hi Ren, the "bad side" is more fun. The nigella line can even be a quadruple as Mr L Boyd spotted (a geat reactor) The burn the border chorus is a call back to Masochist which is about destroying all of your ties in this life ... to reach Nirvana.

This is kind of another inner dialogue. He's fronting that he's the G and then his inside says no, I'm just a regular guy. His imposter syndrome is strong in this song. He does sing "my faith" however it's a double because it's also "all faith" Purposeful. Enjoy your holiday. We will be here when you return!

Hi Wynand. Thanks for a very good song analysis. As for your feelings about rude language, I respect you for standing true to your personal values. Here in the US, the c-word is considered one of the most derogatory and one that I don't use but it's been explained to me that the Brits and other cultures have taken it back and flipped it as their own. I still don't like hearing it and it will never be part of my vocabulary. As long as it's not directed specifically at me, I just remind myself that other cultures use language differently. Happy birthday and enjoy your holiday.

We need to remember that Ren is an Artist not a saint … reading the comments here , I agree that Ren does have some dark songs , they were written when he was in a dark place ! I personally not offended , ! This is your channel , if you are not comfortable reacting to some of Rens darker songs then you shouldn’t ; but then again we are here for your reaction , no judgement , just respect ! There’s one song that is very dark it’s called “ Masochist“ thats one I can think of , besides that one i really can’t think of any other dark songs .: If you want a “ cheeky “ Ren Uninvited “ is interesting !😊💜

To be fair no one wanted to see Ren in this light. That’s why we renegades hold off on that song. No one wants anyone to see Ren in that kind of light. Because, like you, I think Ren feels very similar about the power of words and I don’t think a moment like that he would be particularly proud of. He’s just not that kind of guy, like yourself.

This is one of his best songs though! Ren made it and want us to hear it, why deny that part of him? If a renegade has trouble seeing Ren in a dark hopeless place then I think you need to find another artist to like 😅 almost all his songs are extremely dark and I love it. A companion in the dark is what we need, and when Ren is in the dark (like in this song) he needs us.

I don’t have an issue with the context. It is ugly and the whole situation was ugly and it demonstrated the effect that their dishonestly and attempts to ruin his career, it got him to such a place. Only empathy for Ren. He is human

I'm sure no one wanted to see Ren in the position that Kujo put him in ... but he is very proud of the song & video & I freaking LOVE it! As Ren said, he needed a way to release all of his negative feelings about the whole situation, and he did it in an artistic, brutal fashion. Now he can let those feelings go & move on.

1) love your reactions so enjoy your holiday. We aren’t going anywhere. 2) the ‘s word’. I agree with your sister that there is no male equivalent. Men brag about their conquests and women are shamed. My personal approach? I kinda feel like woman should take that word and be proud of it. They have just as much right to brag as men do. I personally look at that word as a badge of honor and I don’t discount any woman that’s been called that. Honestly? I prefer it. My wife was called that many times by many people. To me, it meant, “cool! You’re experienced! You know what you want and you’re able to communicate that!” I’m sorry if that sounds crass, but for the love of god…we’re equals. I prefer someone whose experience matches my own. Disclaimer, I’m a man, and for people who find that word offensive, I understand. That being said, we need to eliminate the double standard between men and women. So, I, personally, will absolutely, NEVER judge someone for being called that word. I realize I either sound like I know what I’m talking about or I sound like a complete dick, but I promise I’m just being honest.

In Chapter 8 of Ren's story, he calls himself one, so there's that. I've used it for men and only jokingly with women. Man-ore just doesn't have the same pop as sloot.

I agree with your sister. That word belongs in the past. I don't hold it against Ren, though. I think he has lived in bit of a bubble due to his illness, and I think he was just trying to be as insulting as possible. I used it myself when I was younger. We all did. I just hope that as he moves through the world, he becomes a bit more sensitive about these things.

Like I said in the video, I think Ren is expressing the darkest side of himself in a very public way and that takes guts. We've all thought and felt horrible things when we are raging with anger, that doesnt mean we are bad people, it means we are human and Ren simply poured it into his art and I get that. In real life it seems to me it's always GOOD Ren that wins the fight and thank God for that!

I agree with your sister but understood Rens use of it in his explosive video. The dictionary definition is actually a slovenly person ie fixing hem with safety pin instead of needle and thread. A man gets a pat of the back for what gets a woman that name. 72 and have never understood that.

I get it. I have a friend that loses her mind if someone says cunt. She had an abusive ex that called her that like a nickname. So I don't say it in her presence ever. I guess most of us are over the shock factor of swear words and derogatory names. It's just what we hear on a daily basis. I've been called a slut and it angered me, mostly because it's untrue. But, I understand your feelings on the subject.

@cultivatinggrace if you watched the full explanation and listened to Ren, she was flirting and trying to get close with Ren behind Kujos back. Once she found out that her feminine charm, to put it nicely, wasn't going to work that's when it got ugly.
