Growing up I was well known for never crying. Just absorbing every disappointment or shock, but I cry at beauty, at great art and animals and I cry always at REN. At his incredible humanity. I can hardly bare to watch him and all his vulnerability walking into the Lions Den of that stage. But his performance, as we all agree was pitch perfect and absolute fire. I am now sitting here, trying to work, but watching this vid again and bawling. I can’t actually believe that such a human being exists. It is making me v v emotional. Love you REN. Life is a game, you win or lose, better to achieve the former
@Rainbow_Ape2 ай бұрын
@@AnEntityBrowsingYT A game? A rollercoaster? It's been compared to many things. If you see it as a game, then that does indeed imply winners and losers. But sometimes you win when you lose, or lose when you win. Really it's about being honest with yourself of how winning and losing are defined for you. Importantly, it's not about trying to convince anyone that your way is THE way. If that is true, and I believe it is, then the game is only with yourself. Be true to yourself and not what is expected of you and you win. That's definitely true for Ren. This exquisite performance, down to the snarled "motherfuckers", is a classic example of someone winning by being themselves.
@AnEntityBrowsingYT2 ай бұрын
@@Rainbow_Ape Consider any game, there are moments of winning and losing, but when it comes to the end, you have either won or lost. So I agree with your statement somewhat. Life doesn't have a predetermined state of 'won' or 'lost' and that is fine, we get to determine the win conditions. For some, that is huge wealth, for some it is simply raising a family on a steady income.

@@uncontrollable343 This. The amount of people missing the point that Money Game is ALSO about Ren and all of us. EVERYONE is a victim of the Money Game. It's an education, not a judgment, of humanity. We've become slaves to our own inventions and systems that now have us trapped in a spiralling need to play the games that these systems were originally invented to make sure we never HAD to. But money was invented for trade But now those bits of paper twist hearts, make slaves Money is a game and the ladder we climb Turns a saint into a sinner with his finger in crime The way we live is lunacy, community, it declines We're hyperpolarized, we're always fighting, and we divide Truth is less important than the money that we design? Money's an invention, politics from our invention They all come from peoples' ideas, did I mention? Borders? An invention, law, and order fuel the tension That leads to people killing each other. My solution? Everything is subject to change We could build utopias if individuals were taught to use their brains But if we teach kids in school to always be sheep And put themselves before the herd if there's more money for me Then there’s no future I see, where the humans survive We're parasites inside a Petri dish with cannibal minds Mold will grow upon a surface, then consumes till it dies And our fate could be the same without this story for the wise Humanity is no more innately greedy or evil than every other animal on the planet. Our self-awareness to the bleakness of our fates and the desperate lengths we go to escape it is what ironically fuels our suffering and greed. We're a self-fulfilling prophecy. Money was invented to give us a civil means of trading resources between one another. To prevent conflict, in-fighting, survival of the fittest. To stop us from stealing from each other, killing each other. And yet now money has become such a high-value commodity for all our living luxuries, it's become the very thing we actively cheat and scam and steal and kill each other for. Same with politics, borders, law and order. These were supposed to be podiums for which humanity learned to live in peace. There was supposed to be freedom and choice in politics, democracy or communism at its core. People debating what was right and putting it to a vote so that everyone can have their say then accept the outcome. Only outcomes always benefited some parties more than others and someone always suffered in fundamental happiness as a result. Namely, again, because of money. Taxation and benefit schemes existed to protect the more vulnerable members of our society that the rules and laws of nature would have seen die in the wilderness in other species. And likewise, the value of money inflating over the years meant basic necessities went up thus justified, mandating the need for taxation and benefit schemes. We invented the justice system to provided safety and security, to enforce punishment for those that DID continue to scam and kill and steal for money or for politics. And borders were put around properties, states, countries, to designate safe zones and clarify where YOUR people were where YOUR laws were upheld and what was YOURS by right. But that divides us between US and THEM. And becomes a problem when resources beyond our borders that we need are by definition of landlines SOMEONE ELSE'S. So we need money, politics, that allow us to transfer resources. But then we're back to square one, because money becomes so important, influence, reach, land, we start to scam and cheat and steal and kill that land. It's education, not eradication that humanity needs to stay aware of and combat these pitfalls and traps and find peaceful solution rather than violent ones. The people in this room are not inherently the problem. It's the ideologies driving them forward that need to be challenged and changed.
@justuse2937Ай бұрын
@@uncontrollable343 It is a coin with two different sides here - Ren states often enough, that he is also part of the money game, but also that he isn´t prescribed to it. With that in mind (and if we are beliving him for what he is delivering enough reasons for so far) you can pretty much assume, that he did not take a lot of money for that (or is reinvesting it directly into new music if so), bc he mainly lives for the message he wants to convey with his music.

In the studio version, I felt rage and irony and despair. But in this live version, it's like you sat up and said, "look, forget the theatrics, forget the clever writing, forget about the clever hook and listen to what I'm bloody telling you." And you poured out wisdom to an enraptured audience for 4 minutes. Thank you for that.

Just raw charisma on the mic. If you are this captivating through a screen I can only imagine what it is like in person. You are like a tractor beam. And it’s your words. The truth of them are impossible to ignore.

It gets better each time I watch. This is a masterpiece, with hidden tiny flaws that you get from a completely live performance as multifaceted as this. He blows all modern music away from the past several decades, and when you read the comments, when you hear from the people that listen that are touched by his theatre, you can see he's a once in a generation artist.

SKY is not the limit , it is only the Beginning . Be Proud of you and your Team. Loving the journey . We got your Back
A well deserved loud round of applause hopefully that hit a few of the audience in their conscience. Loved that performance this old timer is becoming a renegade more and more each day.

Congratulations man. I wish I could say I’ve been following you since the beginning but I just heard Hi Ren about a week ago (brought me to tears lol) and I’ve listened to you on repeat since that day (spent hours listening to your discography immediately after listening to Hi Ren and put my little brother and mom on to you)

Absolutely beautiful! I already know you can hold down a stage, because the world is your stage! Never forget seeing some of your first live street performance videos on youtube. Being memorized!! So much heart and soul!! Then working my way thru all the music, eagerly waiting new videos!! Just sitting here now, literally thanking God for the opportunity to hear your message! Thankful that it resonates with me!! Thank you for continuing to be a light in a dark world!!!!

First Ren song I came across from Spotify on the smart shuffle. I thought there were 2 different people on it for a good while. Collected a few more songs before discovering this channel. I think it will always be one of my favourites because of that! Nice to hear it live, a sentence I pretty much never say about music as the crowd noises in live music play hell with my brain, but this one held the crowd silent!

Poignant, relevant, raw, original and beautiful artistry. No need to label a genre. This is a wonderful expression of being human. Portraying the power of how art can transform one’s heart. Both the creator and for whom it is created for. You never disappoint Ren. Thank you for sharing your gift, your struggles and your heart.
