Every single time REN gets good news his first instinct is to help others, reach out and lift utter strangers up out of whatever dark hole they are in. I don’t think he realizes that, for his fans, seeing such a genuinely good, empathetic and deserving man get exactly the kind of good fortune he deserves is uplifting in and of itself. It’s like for once the universe got it right. He earned this through his sheer talent. But more, he earned it because of the kind of person he is. I know I preordered just because I wanted him to beat The Stones, not gonna lie and I love The Stones. I wanted to be a part of this though REN’s rise. I don’t even have any use for my preorder CD, don’t have a cd player anymore. And I am highly nervous about ordering stuff online. But whatever, listening to REN fumble with his happiness in this video totally made it worth the hassle.

Man, I was in a dark place when I first heard “Hi Ren” and as fucking corny as it sounds, when he stood up in the video I stood up inside myself. Life changed a lot. Been in a tough time last few weeks and I hear this!! It’s incredible. It’s literally like I just spilled my guts to him before he said this. Never say Never: 8 years ago I was in a wheelchair with 3 carers in UK (diagnosed with EDS iwhen I was 46) ... now I am living in/building a tiny house in New Mexico (lots of 'coincidences to get here ;) ) with a food forest and meat chickens ;) Still got EDS.... but each rock I move now is a bonus ;)

Oh Ren , you are such an inspiration. I 'm so sad about losing my father and two brothers in the past three years , that my chronic pain has actually taken a backseat. Sometimes I think I am to old to change my life , to move on and leave this sorrow behind me . I suppose no one is promised tomorrow. So today I will persist. I found you after my brother , who was my best friend past away 3 yrs ago , of course it was Hi Ren. I began to feel a bit lighter. Then this year I lost my father and brother just a few months apart. I suppose for me there are only two choices, to , persist or not persist. Thank you for sharing your art , and your life with us . If you had told me that any artist could have such a profound affect on me at this time of life , I might have snickered..... huh.

I'm sure it feels amazing, but I hope you don't feel the pressure. Ren I believe that you were supposed to suffer unfortunately to become the beautiful, awe-inspiring, spine tingling artist that you have become. I know if you read these messages you're going to get sick of me saying this if you haven't already. The more you go through the sweeter the good days are. I think we can feel your lyrics because of the intense never ending pain you go through. It's like when someone plays the blues and they have been through hell and back I feel it deep down to my core. For me it's not the words, as beautiful as they might be. It's not the music even if it's perfection. It's the emotion behind the words and music. When I watch the video of you finding out that you got #1 album I had chills down my spin and I was crying. I was so happy for you. More importantly I saw you so happy that you were crying and jumping up and down yelling cause you were so happy. You were surrounded by friends that love you. I'm so glad you have them. I'm sure your freckled angel is watching and is so proud of you too. Because of all that you've lived through you are now a spokes person for chronic illness, mental health, Lyme disease, better hospitals/medical and a better society in general. If you hadn't gone through it do you think all this would still be happening. Would you be the person you are today. I don't think so. Perhaps this is who you are ment to be for this world. It's a lot I'm sure. I won't pretend to know how hard it must be to go through what you do. You inspire people, I don't know many people who do anymore. We all believe in you. You are so loved and appreciated and It's well deserved. Hopefully one day you will no longer suffer and will figure out the answer as to why you've had to go through so much but, I believe it was so you would become the warrior spirit that you are now.
