Yeah, we weren't kidding, Ren is that good a storyteller! It's powerfully emotional. A fictional story but true in the sense that these things sadly happen all too often. Apparently Ren got the idea from a newspaper report about a young boy who killed a young prostitute. He was struck by the phrase, 'such a shame'. Jenny and Screech's tales came out first in 2019, and then he added Violet's tale a couple of years later. He dropped a clue as to her identity when he said 2-0-0-5, 14 years before the first two tales dropped. Ren usually pins the lyrics in the comments if you're struggling with his accent.

I believe this trilogy story was born from an actual story in the newspapers in the UK. Ren took a lot of artistic licence with the story, but it did start from it originally

I read on several other reaction vids that this isn't the case. It's something different, like a hatch or something, I can't remember since it's been a few months since I saw those comments, but a lot of people, both reactors and commenters, mistakenly think this is a marking for where Ren should stand.

Yeah, that just happened. Ren just out there blowing everybody’s minds 😅 He is a modern day bard. A genius storyteller who paints such vivid imagery that it gets physically uncomfortable at times - especially during Violet’s Tale. But you cannot stop watching. He pulls you in and demands your attention as he sheds light on issues that are far too real for too many people. Ren is special.

Omg! I think yours is one of the best reactions to the trilogy ever!! You were very clever at picking up things as you went along and realising that you got distracted and immediately going back to focus (trust me that is really appreciated!). And to top it off you nearly got the ending by yourself! 👌 Once you get over the initial shock you will slowly start to realise that Jenny was also 14 and that she was working as a prostitute bc why else would she have walked the streets a thousand times, been wearing high heels at night on her own and have rosy cheeks. Tie this together and like you said, Jenny and Screech were separated to increase their chances of adoption but sadly they ended up in abusive homes (foster or adopted?). Jenny must've suffered the same fate as her mother which is why she was now trying to escape by getting paid for what she was made to do anyway and whatever happened to Screech made him into a violent thug like their dad. Jenny also ended up with her mother's 'deer in headlights' reaction to violence. Nature vs nurture, generational violence and society's throwaway children highlighted in one masterpiece. The inspiration?....a news reporter stating 'What a shame' after reporting on the stabbing and murder of a young prostitute in London by a 14 year old boy. It struck Ren as flippant and here we are, with what I think should win an Oscar in the Best Short Story category! I suggest Chalk Outlines next based on your comments on your Sick Boi reaction 😊

You never need to encourage Ren fans to stick around for a long reaction video. For us, I think his songs and reactions to them are never long enough! Your insight on abusive relationships was intense and on point. Great reaction - I subbed! Can't wait for your next one -- I recommend Ren with his band The Big Push, the "red suspenders" session of "WATCH OUT," a Big Push original. This whole busking session is worth watching, and this is the first song performed (or at least the first recorded and available.)

😲😟😢Time, I think, for a little Ren-Lite. Maybe "Losing It "? "Hunger"? Or a little something from The Big Push, the street band Ren was with in Brighton. ( "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop" is the popular choice, the red suspenders version 😉) Then back to Ren-Deep : "Chalk Outlines" duet with Chinchilla. Enjoying your journey of discovery. I don’t think Stevie was the father. I think her father was. Why else would a 16 year old girl be given a subsidized apartment? Welfare office wanted her out of that home. Stevie meets her, he’s an opportunist and she has a house, so he swoops in pretends to care about the pregger teenager, then once he’s got her he loses the charm and his real self comes out but by then she thinks she needs him A tale as old as time. But you are right about what Screech inherited, just not about who he inherited it from

Don’t worry about the length of videos. Folk here for the real reason to see your reaction will watch no matter how long it is. Otherwise we’re just basically watching you watch a video and we can do that ourselves. We are here for the proper reaction and/or breakdown and I loved this one. The most successful reaction channels all have multiple pauses and rewinds to talk all the way thru about what’s going on, those that complain can just go and watch the original on Rens channel. If I know a video is 4 mins long and the reaction is 5 mins long I always skip them.

Even with the dad in jail, his parental rights wouldn't necessarily have been stripped. Or at least not right away. It's more likely the kids didn't get adopted and ended up in foster care. Jenny was out walking the streets late at night, in high heels, wishing for an escape. The implication is that she was a prostitute. And Screech is a kid of the streets out stealing and getting high. These are not children who are in good, safe adoptive families. Like their mother, neither of them ever stood a chance.

REALLY TERRIFIC REACTION!! (I usually only leave this post for reactors who pick a 'wrong' Ren video, but it seems you're probably going deep into the rabbit hole, so this might spare you some grief. Keep up the great work!) "If you go deeper into Ren's catalog you're going to find that he has several versions of several of his songs, and some of the Ren fans get kind of upset if you react to the "wrong" version first, so here's a list I made for a reactor who asked which ones the fans want to see first. Almost all the "wrong" versions are worth a reaction as well, but I understand why people like them in this order. It makes the viewing experience richer. Keep up the great work! 1. THE TALE OF JENNY AND SCREECH (OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO) - These MUST be seen in order so the best way to do them is this version of all three which is 13 + minutes. It's best NOT to break these up into 3 video reactions. DO NOT DO THE LIVE VERSION FIRST. 2. CHALK OUTLINES (LIVE) - with the amazing Chinchilla. DO NOT DO THE LYRIC VIDEO FIRST. 3. HOW TO BE ME (LIVE) - with the amazing Chinchilla. DO NOT DO THE LYRIC VIDEO FIRST. 4. MONEY GAME PT. 2 (OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO) - DO NOT DO THE LIVE VERSION FIRST. 5. BLIND EYED FT. ANGRY CAR PARK ATTENDANT - with Sam Tompkins. There are several versions of BLIND EYED. This is the most fun and the only one that Ren made a toy from. (*personally, I'd react to this as a double with the BLIND EYED - M.C. SESSIONS version, but if you're only doing one, stick to the CAR PARK version.) 6. I SHOT THE SHERIFF/ROAD TO ZION/HIP-HOP - with the Big Push band. This one has 9.5 million views. DO THIS ONE FIRST. 7. 1990S (OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO) - DO NOT DO THE LIVE VERSION FIRST. 8. DOMINOES (OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO) - DO NOT DO THE LIVE VERSION FIRST. 9. Do FRECKLED ANGELS (LIVE PERFORMANCE) before SUIC!DE and do SUIC!DE before FOR JOE. (*this list was compliled from when other reactors played “wrong” versions and got complaints. While I’ve never seen a complaint about doing these out of order, this would seem the logical way.) -Also, LET REN SONGS RUN UNTIL THE VERY END! Sometimes cool stuff happens after reactors stop even a couple seconds early. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Hope it helps."

Ren cut his teeth as a performer out busking on the streets (playing guitar and singing on the street for tips tossed into his guitar case). He really honed his performance skills out on the streets, and learned how to turn random people walking by into a paying audience. I believe that’s why he’s such a great performer. Luckily, there are numerous videos of him out there busking, mostly with his friend, Sam Tompkins, who has an amazing voice, or, later, as part of a band called The Big push If you want something more fun for the next reaction, as well as something that showcases Ren as a vocalist, I would check out him busking with Sam Hopkins doing an original tune, Blind Eyed or the same pair doing a mash up of covers, the one with Earned It and Man’s World. There is also an excellent studio version of Blind Eyed, called the MC sessions, where it’s easier to hear the lyrics. But as someone in another comment noted, his lyrics are usually in the comments or you can just google the song title+ lyrics and it will come up. I always need the lyrics when hearing a song for the first time

I love you man. You have the exact same reaction I had! I threw my phone across the yard and cried for a few days and kept vocally asking the universe why screech would kill his sister! You absolutely must check out him and his band The Big Push. Specifically, his version of I shot the sheriff/ road to zion/ hip hop. Look for ren with red suspenders and a grey tank top. That same live busking show his band did another mash up of black sabbath and an ozzy Osborne cover. As well as their original song watch out. They also do lots of amazing originals and covers. All three front men are solo artists. They are all amazing. Gorran the drummer is folk indy. My favorite is romain axisa who is a heartbroken Frenchman style song writer. Extremely powerful voice. The drummer is super dope but he's now an IT specialist and doesn't play music

Afterthought comment: My husbands name was Joe... And it being your name, you probably heard about "For Joe" a masterful tribute to Rens best mate, he lost to suicide when he was 19. Deaply affected him and still does! Reason for his album titled Freckled Angels... its beautiful, but warning you will cry!😢

The story goes Ren read a newspaper story about a prostitute killed by a 14 yr old boy. Jenny and Screech were written soon after. . violet’s tale was written some time later

Don't ever apologize for pausing or for the length of your videos. I, for one (and probably a lot of Renegades), watch reactions for the reaction. It's almost like seeing the songs again for the first time. Love your reactions. I've watched several, on the recommendation of Disco Doc, and you've got a new sub. Thanks for the honest reactions!

AWESOME, I am going down your rabbit hole and it is super fun. Somehow Ren is able to connect with EVERYONE, no matter what our backgrounds are. Because you are a veteran, you saw someone on a balcony -nobody has noticed that before AND you connected the stories before anyone. When he said 'twins' I got it but you we way before me. Can't wait to see your next reaction
