You should add to your list his song called Crutch with Bibi. Bibi is his ex girlfriend now but she was his girlfriend at the time he made the video. Apparently he made the video before he knew the cause of his medical issues. He was very sick and very skinny, and scared of losing her because he was mentally ill.

Here is the info on Chinchilla again, in case you did not see my comment on your previous reaction. Chinchilla (Daisy Matilda Bertenshaw) is 26 years old, from London, UK, and a rising star on the British music scene. She was a supporting act on Sting's 2019 European Arena tour and the opening act for the 2021 McFly tour. Chinchilla has also played some big European music festivals. Totally agree (as always, lol), and Shadows is my number one favourite of hers although Lockdown Getdown and Fingers-Live come in at a close second equal. Have you listened to anything by Romain Axisa (plays guitar with The Big Push). He has done a load of covers but his original song, Love Without Feelings-Live, where he plays piano, is a beautiful love song and definitely worth a few minutes of your time. His cover of Ray Charles' Georgia On My Mind is unbelievably good. Hope you're keeping well.

I have both of them in various Spotify playlists and listen to their music almost daily. Eden Nash and Molly McKinna, who feature on a few of Ren's earlier tracks are also worth listening to. @@JensRandolff To be perfectly honest, I haven't listened to anything by Gorran or the two girls you mention but thanks for the nudge, I'll have a look at them all soon. Unfortunately my health has taken a nosedive over the last year, starting with having the bottom lobe of my right lung removed due to cancer. Then I somehow developed two different types of blood cancers(Thrombocythemia and more seriously, Polycythemia Vera), for which I have daily chemo. Then, to top it off, in February, I contracted severe heart failure which has devastated my life; raising my arms to put on a sweater can leave me gasping for breath and my wife has to wash /shower me etc. I also have to use a small electric wheelchair to get around the house, so as you can see, things aren't doing too well but us Scots are a breed of fighters so I have no intention of giving up any time soon. Sorry for unloading all that on you my friend but I lead a pretty lonely life and only see my saint of a wife on a daily basis as both my sons have their own families to deal with and also don't live particularly close, so I only see them infrequently, although they phone two or three times a week. Best stop here or it will turn into a book, lol. Stay safe buddy.😊😊

Yes, this was written for Ren's best friend, who took his own life. And it perfectly depicts depression, sadness and suffering in the most beautiful of ways. That's the beauty of good music. You feel it deep in your soul and resonate with it on a deep level. Another great reaction. As for "How to Be Me," Ren's best friend, Joe Hughes, committed suicide on the 27th of December, 2010 by jumping off the Menai Suspension Bridge; his body was never recovered. Ren alluded to it in one of his songs, stating that he lost his best friend before he was 25. The pain of this loss is evident in a few of his songs, "Freckled Angels" being one example. It is dedicated to Joe Hughes. Someone else commented that the video was shot at the bridge that Ren's friend jumped from, however, others have stated that this is misinformation. Their live performance of "Chalk Outlines" is still my favorite song, partly because I can relate to it due to my own daily struggles. Although, losing your best friend to suicide is also something I experienced when I was 19 y/o (almost 38 years ago). “How to Be Me” definitely runs a close second, though. I would recommend you check out their busking sessions in Brighton, performing “Sexual Healing” (Marvin Gaye cover) and “One Dance / Drunk In Love” (Drake/Beyoncé cover); those performances are of a much lighter mood and very enjoyable. I hope you will continue to dive into Ren's and Chinchilla's catalogs.

I knew you'd like this. Your comments at the end are so true. Yes: This song is a tribute to his friend who took his life. In his interview with Knox Hill, Ren said he made it to the bridge just a minute or two too late to try to save his friend. I suspect it's why Ren chose a bridge as the setting for the music video.

Love your joy discovering these gems. If you want positivity in your life then I recommend “Power” by Ren soon as it should tick the boxes for being real and being a very positive feeling. Another might be “Humble” Ren with Eden Nash. For Chinchilla - the two tracks I think show her on an incredible level are Elements (it says it’s a lyric video but it’s basically a music video), and Fingers, the live version is the one to listen to first although the studio version is great too but is more of a traditional chart song version.

Backstory on this song..................... This song was for his friend that committed suicide, who was lost from jumping off a bridge into un-swimmable waters. The friend put out a text (group I believe, to closest friends) that he was at the bridge and couldn't handle life anymore, Ren was the closest and rushed there in the middle of the night but was too late, his body was never found. Some people are saying this performance was on that bridge, others have stated it's a random bridge in the area over the same waters. Ren recounted the story on the Knox interview, but did not confirm the location of this video shoot. Ren's first album was dedicated to him, Freckled Angels, which was his nickname/term of affection, another in their circle of friends opened a restaurant that is doing quite well also named Freckled Angels. ✌💚

ya the sound audio is not really good. It sounds like it just picks up the Treble, there is like no mid range or bass to the music. Not sure how she is picking up the sound from the songs. May have to research some more and see how people do it. Plus you can always do test videos to see how the audio sounds.. Just upload a clip of whatever, and make it private and watch it yourself. I am not up to her current songs yet with Ren.. Still at the 1 month ago ones.
