I can't think of another band where they did a wholesale complete change in personnel but stayed so consistently in the style and genre of their music. At least the first four albums of the revised (Annie Haslam) lineup (Prologue, Ashes Are Burning, Turn of the Cards, Sheherazade) and the brilliant Live at Carnegie Hall stayed very consistent with what the first (Jane Relf) lineup established. The second lineup started changing with Novella and much more so with Song for All Seasons and subsequent releases.

Incredibly moving version. Renaissance, along with Jeff Beck Group, Cream, and Led Zeppelin came out of The Yardbirds. To have Jim McCarty of the original Yardbirds and original Renaissance to get onstage along with Annie Haslam of the classic version of Renaissance is a historic rock and roll moment👏👏👏

I enjoyed them in 1970 at the Fillmore East in NYC. I recall the original bassist, Cemano (I think) who started the set with an outrageous bass intro that sounded like a rocket ship blasting off for higher destinations. Cool.

Sorry, this does not even begin to compare to Jane Relf singing this with the original Renaissance.

I agree. But Keith Approves. When I got Prologue I was totally upset,, and tried to return the album to the store- even w that Hipgnosis now classic cover. The store refused the return... nothing like that first....

I desagree. Jane has no vocal tecnic, She has a lot of breathe issue and didnt know how put her voice in comfortable zone. Get much more better how Annie sing, in a low key. And remember, Anne is not a luttle girl anymore.

@@frankgilbert1812 Agreed. Annie has a very beautiful voice, and has been trained to use it. I loved to hear her sing - especially on Roy's Annie in Wonderland. However, Jane's version is the template. Other versions always invite comparisons, and the other versions will always lose.

Creio que a música ficou melhor na voz de Jane Helf, mas ela era bem jovem quando cantou. Temos que considerar a idade de Annie Haslam, que mesmo assim ainda canta muito! Abraços do Brasil!
