No longer are they, this is a great band that Annie has joined to play the music of Jon Camp, Michael Dunford, John Tout and Terry Sullivan ...
@jeffrey3222 жыл бұрын
Original members have either passed on or retired. The most well-known incarnation, which recored the bulk of the music and toured, was the best in my opinion. I think this band is too slick (sterile) and lacks soul.

Annie is truly amazing (just been to her Renaissence show in Rio, Brazil 2 weeks ago), but we MUST NOT diminish a bit the value of the late, brillant, Beth Tatcher and EVERY MEMBER of the "more" original band. It was a team of geniouses, which I never seen nearly matchable, ever! ...If I was asked whether I prefered that Renaissance existed or I be born/alive, I certainly would chose Renaissence existance than my life. Is there a stronger reverence and appreciation to Renaissance than this???
@786itube2 жыл бұрын
The UK missed out on this gem of a group mainly because of media mis-reporting and skewed marketing. This has been a truly exceptional group with their unique blend of classic-rock. Apart from the poetic lyrics of the late Bettie Cartwright, the complex orchestration, not forgetting their liberal changes in key, tempo, rhythm etc. And, of course, how can one forget the beautiful 5-octave voice of Annie Haslam. I’ve listened to this group since the 70’s, and still do, and never tire of them as they always sound fresh and appealing. Sadly though, with Michael’s passing away, Annie remains the sole, and immensely credible, flag-bearer. Long live Renaissance as they have brought so much of joy to many of us.

I grew up in central Mississippi. I only happened upon the band thru my voracious exploration of anything out-of-the-ordinary, musically. In about 1976, I ran across Live @ Carnegie Hall. I was hooked. I played the grooves off that double LP, and then Novella. I was disappointed when they (like Genesis, post Gabriel/Hackettt) began to water down their classic sound. I know it was all about trying to make them more marketable, but I really enjoy their classical period.

Renaissance was one of the top best (if not the no.1) music bands in history. But one must be sensitive, perceptive, analytic and comparative to FEEL THIS WITH CERTAINTY. I could list numerous fators after 35 year of frequent listening (feelig) their perfectionisms on the various facets of "musicmanship" but woud be too long to write here. still now, after these so many year, find new nuances and details I have not noticed before. God bless them!

Michael; unfortunately I have to agree with you; I felt the same way, like I'm watching a cover band; they just don't capture the mystical magic that was Renaissance; its only our mutual love for Annie that keeps us all coming back......

@OneForTheDollyBirds4 жыл бұрын
@@stephencrome8253 That's not a singing lesson; that's intelligent feedback that she can use to maximize her wonderful abilities. If I were to give her a singing lesson, it would cost $85 ($75 with the twelve-week exceptional-progress discount) and last for two hours (more like two and a half). Besides, I teach keyboard, music theory, harmony, notation, ear training, rhythmic training, transcription, songwriting, and both homophonic and polyphonic arranging--NOT SINGING. Their main keyboardplayer, John Tout, also used to sit down playing grand piano, organ and various other keyboards. Also their main composer and acoustic guitarplayer Michael Dunford also usually sat on a stool. The only two standing were Annie Haslam and their bassplayer Jon Camp.
