Dragon Knight’s adapted names were basically what inspired me to try and come up with adapted names for the rest of the Heisei phase 1 Riders since I wanna make reimaginings of them: - Kuuga/Clearcell or Stagger: Clearcell is derived from Clear Self, a translation of Kuuga when written in kanji. Stagger is also based on stag beetle similar to how Kuuga is derived from Kuwagata. - Agito/Alphagito or Agitomega: Agito’s religious imagery made me think of the quote “I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end”. Additionally, the logo has the Greek letter omega in his name. - Faiz/Phiver, Phire, Phighter, Phinal, Phinite: something that kept the Greek letter phi in his name was enough for me. - Blade/Spade: simple enough, lean into the playing card suit motif more. - Hibiki/Echoni: a portmanteau of echo & Oni. - Kabuto/Rhine Beetle: based on rhinoceros beetle, but Rhine was made to keep the 3 syllable count - Den-O/Train King or Conduit: tied into the train motif of the show, and conduit describes how Ryotaro is the vessel of the Imagin. I debated whether to choose conduit or conduct as in conductor. - Kiva/Vaki: If kiva is an abbreviation for King of Vampires, Vaki is the reversal of that. - Decade/Decimator: derived from the root word for 10 in Greek, deca, and while decade’s name is supposed to be a homophone for decayed, I think decimator still suits his world destroyer motif, and even has some irony to it: decimation was originally a punishment in the Roman army in which a 10th man was stoned to death by his squad, but Decimator is a reversal: he is the 10th man brutalising the other 9.

Also had this thought, so here's my choices for adaptation names: Kuuga: Would stay the same, since (iirc) it's a Gurongi word, not necessarily Japanese Agito: A bit simple, but Kamen Rider Golden, with Another Agito being called Gilded, just cause of the golden armor Faiz: Would either stay the same, or just be called Fai/Phi, to keep the Greek letter naming structure Blade: Ace, to better tie into the card theme Hibiki: Kinda mixed between Beat, Rhythm, or keeping it Hibiki, since it's just the Oni name Kabuto: Beetle, with Dark Kabuto being called Proto Beetle, since I feel like Rhino Beetle is a bit too long of a name Den-O: Kamen Rider Line, to kinda tie into the train theme, referencing railway lines Kiva: A bit obvious, but Kamen Rider Fang Decade: Stays the same, cause there's not really much I could think of for changing the name

For Heisei Phase 2: W: Either keep it as Double or change it to Fusion OOO: Kamen Rider Medal Fourze: Kamen Rider Astro Wizard: Stays the same Gaim: Kamen Rider Samurai (with the rest of the names being based mostly on different types of warriors) Drive/Ghost/Build: Stays the same Ex-Aid: Not really sure of any particular name, originally thought of Action, but honestly could be kinda anything. Secondary choices would be Kamen Rider Arcade and Kamen Rider Mighty Zi-O: Kamen Rider Chronos, based on the Greek titan of the same name. Kamen Rider Cronus from Ex-Aid would instead be called Kamen Rider Game Master, then would become Kamen Rider Gamedeus

I suspect “Torque” was chosen because it shares the “Tor” sound of Taurus. Referencing the bull motif of Zolda moreso than the soldier motif. For Gai/Thrust, I’d suggest “Kamen Rider Riot”. It’s a similar principle to Rampage, but also incorporates the “Rhi-“ sound of Rhino.

Kamen rider Siren, I think that name suits the character in Ryuki more than Dragon Knight. Maybe Kamen rider Blanc so it ties with the contract beast and it is French so it sounds more fancy and elegant

When rewatching the series, I was like, huh, a lot of them are very constellation based. Like I turned Zolda into Taurus, Scissor into Karkinos (Didn’t want to use Cancer), Ryuki into Draco, Femme into Cygnus and such. Not all of them fit this theme, but a lot of them do

My thoughts on renames are: Drake for Ryuki, Night for Knight, Camo staying the same, Riot for Gai, Stampede for Impera, Primal for Tiger, Venom for Ouja, Phoenix for Odin, Shadow for Ryuga, Swan for Femme, Sting staying the same since Ray is a normal person name, Pincer for Scissors, and Bullseye for Zolda. You have to take a couple things into account for how Ryuki was adapted into Dragon Knight. For one, the series was being marketed to young boys in the hopes of selling toys to that demographic, so the Rider names had to reflect things that sounded cool to little boys. This made marketing a female Rider to young boys especially challenging, since back then was a sort of fear in the toy corporate world that "Young boys won't want toys of girl characters if they aren't cool enough." While you point out that a name like "Kamen Rider Swan" may sound "elegant and effeminate" to us older fans, to a little boy the word "Swan" doesn't sound "cool" but rather soft, weak, and too wimpy to be a fighter. Whereas "Siren" has that coolness factor, stemming from a monstrous creature from Greek Mythology, giving it a sense of power and strength that little boys find appealing. Likewise, a name like "Cleave" might sound silly and unintimidating to little boys, making them think "Kamen Rider Cleave" might be some kind of barber or something. Whereas "Incisor" has that cool-sounding element that boys like, sounding more like a weapon than a tool. Secondly, Kamen Rider Dragon Knight was produced in accordance to the broadcast standards and practices of The CW, a terrestrial TV network that was very strict when it came to children's television. The creators of the show have previously gone on record saying that they had to make sure that the content of the series was acceptable for The CW's network censors. One scene in particular even had to be edited in post-production because the censors felt it was originally too close to resembling a death scene, that being the scene where Kamen Rider Sting was Vented: The aftermath of his Venting saw Kit and Len mourning the loss of their friend, which was originally a completely silent scene with no dialogue. When the episode aired, new off-screen dialogue exchanged between Kit and Len was added in post, dialogue that reassured the audience that they would try to get Sting back ("We have to bring him back." "We'll find a way. I promise."), something that did not actually happen until the end of the series since all of the episodes had already been filmed and completed before the first episode's original broadcast. With that said, it is no wonder that Zolda was changed to something like Torque, since there was absolutely no way the network would have allowed the guy with all the "cannons" and "blasters" (they refused to let his weapons be called "guns") be given a name that evoked gunfire or warfare. Even though this was the late-2000s, everyone was still walking on eggshells after 9/11, the war in Iraq, and a few serial killings that happened during that decade. "Torque" may not have been the most apt name for a guy with a heavy arsenal of ranged weaponry, but it was safe enough to get past the censors and worked as a cool-enough sounding name for a boy's toy line, being a very mechanical/machine-like name for a guy decked out in a lot of high-tech weapons and equipment.

Here's my personal ones and reasons: Dragon Knight-same Wing Knight-Bat Knight: I wanted to call him Dark Knight but it's too edgy and I don't want DC's lawyers in my door, and IMO rolls the tongue better Incisor-Crabslash: I wanted to keep the silly part of Scissors(bc really the guy was going to be first to die anyway lol) Torque-Bullzeye: His beast is a bull and a sniper, literally Camo-same, tho Camo Knight sounds sick if we keep the "Knight" namesake for everyone lol Strike-Viper: If I don't want Marvel lawyers in my door, I wanted something that relates to Ouja's name Thrust-Rhipage: Similar to yours, but combining Rhino with Rampage(to get the Japanese habit of joining lmao) Sting-Raybow: A pun on Ray(to not sound boring) and the crossbow on his arm Axe-Clawter: Emphasizing the claws Tiger has Spear-Gadrill: A mix of Gazelle and Drill(referring to his name) Siren-same as yours, especially because her beast is not even a Siren lmao(plus Swan Knight sounds cool as Femme has a similar sword to Knight) Odin-same Ryuga-Onyx Knight: As he is a mirror of Ryuki/DK, he will also have the Knight theme(personally Shadow Knight sounds badass but too safe) Abyss-Jaws sounds badass so the same as yours 11:20: Not the goon Rider Kicking deez nuts 💀

Aside Incisor and Torque, I never minded the name changes in Dragon Knight, but your ideas sound great. Though I had considered in my own adaptation in which I thought to have all Riders have an 'x knight' naming scheme since they all have warrior/knight themes to varying degrees and they fight one another, like Knights in a tournament (in Ryuki at least, less in Dragon Knight). So we could have Dragon Knight, Wing Knight, Blaster Knight (Zolda), Scissor Knight (Scissors, duh), Siren Knight (Femme) Ect. Though it is a work in process and I don't have anything that would work for the alternatives in this concept. I thought False Knights but not sure. Anyhow, I recently stumbled upon this channel and wish I did sooner.

I find Torque works because rotation of the blaster firing adds more power when unleashed & given his arsenal being all long range blast weapons I'd say its not bad. KR SIREN. Works given Sirens are said to lure man to their death. Which given her combat abilities she lives up to it well.

I have an idea to re adapt ryuga. after Kit been vented and Adam have started his shenanigans Dragblacker (after sending its patron rider to Kit's dream to get acquaintanced to him) decided to help him by channeling his consciousness from the advent void to its rider in the real world thus making a ghost rider it can move and fight but since it has to body inside the suit thus no mouth it cannot talk this ghost rider would show up to help the other riders and sabotage Adam and would later be dubbed by the gang as "Fallen Knight" in reference to how much he resembles the fallen Dragon Knight I think this works cuz onyx wasnt really its own rider more so a temporary upgrade for Kit so make it cool while it lasted

Speaking of adapting names, one idea that might be a fun video is adjusting existing rider names with shall we say less original titles. I’m talking about the characters whose rider title is the same as their own name, something I’m not a big fan of. For example: instead of having Storious become Kamen Rider Storious his rider title instead becomes something like Kamen Rider Grimiore and so on.

Tell that to the folks who thought of the burgundy Decepticon Conehead for 1985's second season of The Transformers. 😏 From Raia to Ray is perfect, I don't see why they didn't do exactly that. And Tiger should've just stayed as Tiger or brought into the fold ad Tiger Knight. Femme absosmurfinlutely should've been Swan; spell it as "Swann" for a bit of extra pizzazz. And Ryuuga definitely should've been Shadow Knight. Another idea for Abyss could be Megalo; a play on both Megalodon, a shark like creature, and Megalomaniac, which the guy under the suit basically was.

For the next special. Can we do a what if for Alternate main Zords. Like how in Wild force Animus/Gao God was essentially a copy of Gao King. Other Examples I can provide are Shogun Engine-Oh, Boon Killer, Saint Magi Phoenix, Bakuren-Oh, Spino Dai-oh, Safari GaOh and Kishiryuzin. Honestly I get why they changed the names for everyone They're creating a Rider season that has vague similarities to the original, and as such arent obligated to keep the names Even Amazons would go on to do this, with (as far as I can recall) the only terminology being adapted from the original was the "Amazon" prefix for each of the riders designations. Meanwhile Black Sun or Shin Kamen Rider (2021) moreso closely follow the source material and as such are more inclined to keep the terminology of the original.

For Tiger i wold keep the original name, Tiger really works very well. for Onix i would call him Dragon Fang, Since Ryuki is translated as Dragon Knigth which is the serie name, would be more apropriated to call him Dragon Fang which is the translated name.

For Zolda why not Kamen Rider Caliber, he is gun themed rider and to me this just makes since almost every gun has a different caliber of ammunition that they use I know it’s very similar to Calibur from saber but because they’re spelled differently and the motifs are very different from each other

I think neither Trigger nor Sniper fit Zolda personally. Aside from Trigger sound just a bit too edgy and Sniper a bit too corny, both sound like it would fit better on a some sort of marksman type character, someone whom carry only 1 gun and use it masterfully. Where as Zolda is more like some sort of heavy duty soldier with all the guns for all situation type of guy. I think a name like Kamen Rider Arsenal would be a better fit for him. After all, his final vent is literally just him unloading his whole damn arsenal at your face Also personally I like the name Wild for Tiger. I don't really think I have an argument for it but I just think it sound fit somehow

Honestly, my problem with this video is the concept of adaption. Neither Power Rangers or Dragon Knight is what I would call an adaption. They are original shows in their own right, with their own unique storylines (Not all of them good, hey Megaforce :P).
