Shakirova is a throwback to the days when ballerinas danced to express their passion, soul and musical flow onstage and not to just do gymnastics or see who can raise their leg the highest. Yes, she has a pristine modern technique but her artistry is so much more than that. Well deserved.

Most modern ballet dancers are all tricks with no foundational technique. Shakirova is technically skilled, which gives her the freedom to be expressive. It’s quite literally impossible to have good expression without basic technique.

Здравствуйте! Извините, пожалуйста, но Рената не дотягивает до Наташеньки Осиповой ни по музыкальности, ни по танцевальности, ни по легкости. Наталья Осипова супертехнична. И при этом у нее не видно усталости. Осипова несёт любой образ абсолютно точно, одухотворенно, Божественно! Спасибо, что прочитали.

Perfect combination of artistry and techniques! Well deserved ❤🎉❤ Ppl mistaken this with “doing tricks” might just have very limited understanding about ballet or at least, their own bias. Renata never sacrifices artistry for more turns and higher jumps in my eyes at least. She does those WITH artistry and is praised for that. She even can be artistic and musical and stay in character in 32 fouettés. Yes some younger dancers nowadays prioritize tricks over artistry but not her. More turns and higher jumps doesn’t always equal “tricks“. It’s not like a rule in math once you remember it you can just apply it to everything.

⁠@@Morzanka I am guessing most, if not all ppl who watched this also know and perhaps love those two legendary dancers…But the love and respect for them didn’t stop me from appreciating other or younger ballerinas with different styles and stage presence neither. Ballet should not only have one answer. And your answer is not always right. I respect your opinion and bias and hope you will be able to do the same.

What amazing news. I love her dancing, she's so genuine and passionate. She might not have the best lines, but she has beautiful qualities, technically and artistically. I read a bad review about her Odette-Odile, and it was argued that her technique lacks academic purity. Yes, she's at Mariinsky, but even if she isn't the epitome of academicism, she's got something special that the audiences love. And isn't that, after all, the purpose of art, to enchant, thrill, inspire? Anyway, I hope and I'm pretty sure she'll continue growing and developing her dancing ❤ congrats Renata!
