On her last American concert tour [which included one at the Lyric in Chicago] she sang two or three operetta pieces as well as Puccini, Verdi and Mozart arias. Even at the very end her voice was incredibly penetrating and filled that huge house with a river of gorgeous sound. It was a marverlous experience.
