Subtle design, but quad square headlamps were so stylish in the 80’s!

I drive a 9 - it's about as glitzy as a pair of Crocs, however there are some positives. Firstly, it starts first ask every time. They're strangely reliable. Secondly, they are oddly economical when it comes to fuel. Exceedingly economical - modern cars don't come close. 9's weigh nothing - that's the hint. Plus no "emissions" crap that murders - lol at the irony - economy. Turdly - let's face it, they ain't purty - almost nobody want to nick it - if they did, they'd abandon it rapido because the driving position is brutal. No cat to nick, mine doesn't even have a stereo - so you can leave it unlocked anywhere - heck, you could even leave the keys in it. Be there when you come back. Well, mostly... I bought mine as stolen recovered.. the thiefs head was done in after a few miles so he abandoned it.. more fool him for nicking it. He's now sticking to nicking non-quirky cars/off licking windows full time. Presumably. Fourthetly - You won't suddenly start seeing loads of others if you buy one. You'll see none as close to none are left. Buy something else, you'll start noticing them as you drive - buy a 9 or 11 & you won't see any others. Between Ireland & the UK - my area - there are 72 9's left. I.E you have more chance of stepping in rocking-horse poo than seeing another.

I had the USA American Motors version, with the 1.4 and four speed, throttle-body injection. Amazing comfort, vision out, and soft ride combined with decently fun handling, and pretty consistent 38 us-mpg. Not very fast acceleration, and I kept 'interstate' (motorway) speeds to below 65. I once drove it on a trip to the western mountains, and its up-grade performance with a companion and luggage was pathetic. 2nd gear up some of the high-altitude grades. Heavy trucks were passing us.
