The alternator drive belt is well past its sell by date on this Clio Mk2 1.2 16v.

Really helpful thank you - did mine today after watching your video. Conti 3PK740 belt from Halfords for £7.53 (ECP was £10.50). Got the belt to 252Hz using the app, about 8mm further than the mark I'd made before replacement. The old belt registered at 204Hz before removal. 10 minute job.

Hey mate i know im commenting on quite old video but i just wanted to ask where to get specification on how tight should belt be. I have 1.2 8v with AC so I'm not sure if its same specification or its different.

The app just measures the Hz. You need a manual or try google for the belt application.

How do I get around the AC unit that sits on top of the alternator? Do I have to unbolt and remove it to replace the Alternator belt?

My Clio has two belts also. One is for the air con, which makes its very difficult to get access to the alternator belt. I have done this job before on another Clio without air con, but I can' figure out how to get access to the alternator belt on my current Clio.... very frustrating as my belt is slipping. I can't figure out how to get around the air con belt!!

Where did you buy the belt tension cricket gauge? Have downloaded the app but wanted to get the cricket gauge as backup. I currently have a squeeling belt!

Good afternoon thank you for this video. Quick question, the lower bolt which connects the alternator to the engine, do you know the size of this? I need to replace mine and the only information I can find in the forums is the top bolt is M8 30mm 1.25 however I can find no information for the bottom bolt(s). Thanks

@@SocketsAndSideburns Thanks - I did eventually find a tutorial in French (though not an official one) on changing the timing belt which gave the frequency for tensioning the alternator belt when refitting. It was the same as yours. Thanks for your help and may your channel have great success👍

The engine should still be a D4F so it is possible but I don't know. Renault have kept the engine in service for a long time but change the ancillaries a lot. If you have aircon it wont be the same, even if you don't have aircon Renault may have changed the belt length, rib count and run. Best to check a Clio 4 manual.
