Thanks Thank You - It was easy when you know what to do- and even more helpful when you are given the link to get the part. _ Thanks again - stay safe and enjoy life as much as you can - as often as you can. Actually I have NOT done it yet BUT have ordered the part and I am confident it will be easy. Thanks AGAIN Mate.

Thanks - Without your video I though I'd have to get a garage to sort the pump because of needing to get the wipers off, etc. Your very clear video meant that I had the confidence to do it myself on the driveway and not worry about breaking anything! New pump (£10 from local motor factor) fitted in 20 minutes. Now the screen gets jet washed! Many thanks!

This video was extremely helpful in me changing a faulty washer pump on my 1.4 16v Clio, although I did have to buy a wiper puller as the room is limited and I think the bloody thing had been welded on. What a sense of satisfaction tho when it worked. So thank you very much.

When I pulled the pump the attachment to the washer fluid basin came along with it. Now it’s too big to fit the entire thing without taking the car apart. I believe the pump came with that part too. But maybe it’s detachable?

New oump installed as per your great instructions. Sadly flow to washer jets still miniscule. Any ideas?
@SocketsAndSideburns8 ай бұрын
There are a few other things it could be. Is the flow better to the back jet? The most likely problem is blocked jet nozzles or the pipes leading from the pipe to the nozzles. The best way to diagnose is remove the pipes further and further back until you find where there is a restriction.
@joannaaitkens49988 ай бұрын
@@SocketsAndSideburns yesterday I carried on checking nozzles and the back nozzle was full of gunk. Releasing the pressure seemed to help all round. Still not perfect but will probs pass MOT now. Will take off nozzles this morning, soak and clean again and see if that continues improvements. Thanks so much for video - easy peasy lemon squeezy to replace pump! Thanks for this and your other content - it's been a great resource. I've got great pressure across 3 of the 4 front jets, just not the 2nd driver side jet, nearest the middle. It looked like you didn't either from the video? There's only a dribble from that jet and I get nothing at all on the rear wiper. Do you think blockage or pump? I tackled a job on a Polo once where the rear washer jet had become disconnected and was peeing fluid out internally when activated. I also found my Clio to have a puddle under the spare wheel but feel that was down to a pin hole in a weld near the boot join at the C pillar along the driver side at the rear. Anyway, would you try a new pump in these circumstances? Many thanks
@SocketsAndSideburns Жыл бұрын
You are correct that one of the jets does not work correctly. In your case I would probably not suspect the pump but blocked or broken jets. My third brake light video shows how to get to the washer pipe for the rear jet so you can check if it is blocked. The only way it could be the pump is if the valve slider inside has jammed but the you should get fluid from the front jets when you operate the rear.
@p.h.234 Жыл бұрын
@@SocketsAndSideburns Gotcha. It's been a reliable car in the 17 years I've had it (05 plate, only 44,000 miles) but there's a few wee things started to niggle, nothing major ever though. I'll have a look at the rear video shortly, thank you for the content and your reply.

Common fault with Clios is the rubber valve slider in the pump expands over time and that's why you get the weak flow. take a sharp knife and slice 1mm of each side and reassemble washer pump. Job done. No need for a new pump
@SocketsAndSideburns3 жыл бұрын
Yes that is sometimes the problem, I have actually kept the old washer pump and will probably do a video showing how to do that at some point.

Can you/have you done a video on removing the scuttle tray mainly showing how to remove the wiper arms the correct way to avoid damaging the windscreen and such? P.s I am a huge fan of the channel and find it so helpful for servicing and fixing my clio!
@SocketsAndSideburns3 жыл бұрын
Glad you are enjoying the channel. Lots more Clio videos to come. I'm afraid I haven't made one yet no. This Clio does not have a pollen filter fitted and the only other things under the scuttle are the wiper linkage, heater blow and drains What are you wanting to take it off for and perhaps I can help? All I can tell you for sure is that usually these wiper arms on the Clio's need a puller to remove.

@@SocketsAndSideburns Mainly to check and unblock drains unless there is an easier way?
@SocketsAndSideburns3 жыл бұрын
The Clio 2s have three scuttle drains fitted. One at each edge that feed into the wheel arch and one in the centre that feeds out the bottom of the car. In my experience the wheel arch drains don't usually block unless you park under trees a lot. The usual suspect is the centre drain. It is a rubber tube that emerges from the bulkhead pretty much dead centre. Pour a little water over the windscreen and see if it comes out. It's usually full of sediment and junk. You can unblock it from the drain end rather than removing the scuttle usually. You can massage any blockage down and push a piece of wire or a pipe cleaning brush up it, just be careful. Let me know how that goes. This is a good idea for a video and I know a lot of people get this problem on the Clios so if I get some spare time I will make it.

Of course I had to have the version with 2 pumps as I have headlight washers as well. Mine also don’t mount to the bottom but instead to the side of the fluid box, how do I even change these they are sitting so hard into the fluid box and the space is limited.

I'm afraid I haven't done one of those before. Without seeing I can say for sure but I would guess you need to remove the whole bottle.

Hi, when i tried to get old pump out, this little black seal fall down and is probably somewhere under the water barrel now. Unfortunatelly its not part of the new washer pump. Any ideal how to get it out? :-( Thanks
@SocketsAndSideburns3 жыл бұрын
Oh that is unfortunate. I doubt it would have managed to get inside the washer bottle itself as the seal is larger than the hole. If you can't see or find it and can't source a new one then you may have to remove the scuttle panel after all in order to find it I'm afraid.

Hi, thanks for this video. My washer pump appears to be working but I am not getting water every time, any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks.
@SocketsAndSideburns3 жыл бұрын
Hello and welcome to the channel. In what way is the water being sprayed when it is delivered? Is it weak on both jets? Weak on one jet? Full power then nothing at all? It will either be the pump failed intermittently, a blockage or power dropping out to the pump but if you can hear the pump running continuously even when screen wash flow stops it wont be that. The pumps get weak before they fail as you can see in this video.
@djsumme3 жыл бұрын
@@SocketsAndSideburns thanks for your reply. It was full power then nothing at all
@SocketsAndSideburns3 жыл бұрын
Is the pump still running when the washer jets stop? If the pump can no longer be heard running when the washers stop I would use a multimeter to check the power to the pump. If however the pump can be heard running but no washer flow then either the pump has failed or there is a blockage at the pump inlet or the pipes or the pump has failed. There is a valve inside them that diverts flow from rear or front depending on which way the impeller is spinning this swells over time.
@djsumme3 жыл бұрын

Since putting in a new pump my water reservoir levels keeps dropping overnight. I've clean the area that the washer goes and pushed it down as much as possible. Any advice on what else I could try? Cheers
@SocketsAndSideburns3 жыл бұрын
If it didn't lose fluid before then most likely reason will be the washer seal. Unless you have headlight washers the only other cause would be a leaking reservoir. Best thing to do is fill the reservoir to the pumps seal level. If it leaks more it must be a crack in the reservoir. I'd check the seal against the old seal, the aftermarket ones are not always an exact match. If you still have the old one try refitting that and see if it leaks.
@danielc55193 жыл бұрын

Hey man great video, quick question, where abouts is the fuse for the pump located? Think mine has gone but can't find it, thanks in advance
@SocketsAndSideburns3 жыл бұрын
Thankyou. The fuse should be in the cabin fuse box. This is located on the passenger side of the dashboard, you need to open the door to see it. Remove the cover and it has a diagram explaining what each fuse does. It should be a 15amp fuse but it is marked down as a fan. It is located between the fuse marked STOP (brake lights) and the front windscreen wiper fuse. If it's blown your rear wiper shouldn't work either, at least it won't on this Clio, although there is another separate fuse for the rear wiper also. Let me know how you get on.
