Renault Master Van Car Key Fob Central Locking Unlocking Not Working, check this first easy fix.

So we have a Renault Master van, sometimes the central locking won't work when you press the lock/unlock buttons on the key fob. It can be a battery issue or transmitter but it is sometimes just a loose connection to the small 3v cell battery inside, here's how to test and fix it. The the problem it might be is a flat battery in the vehicle, in that case manually open the doors and just charge up the battery etc.

Wow! A Renault master garage quoted me £250 for a replacement key. And another garage said the battery had gone flat, so he would change it for me for £50. After seeing your video, I went to Halfords, bought a battery and did it myself. Will upload video soon. Thank you! Kaye

My key seems to work ok as the central locking lights flash when its pressed but it just doesnt lock now for some reason?

Thank you. This helped my Kangoo key. However, the transponder intermittently cancels out the immobiliser.

if the fob is near the key insert/pickup area it should send a code to disable it is that what you mean?

Yes. So I took the keys to Timpsons who confirmed one transponder was dead, so he copied the transponder from the working key to a new chip, and it now starts the car. However, the central locking no longer works as the red light on the key no longer flashes.

My light is flashing but still central lock not working. The central locking in the van is working because i can lock from inside

if the casing is cracked etc you could try reparing it, getting a second hand one off ebay or a new full replacement key programmed

What year of van is it? Got 01 Master with central locking but the key has no buttons at all... looking for some replacement with the buttons but not sure if it will work...

Sorry but 3V is basically flat. A new battery is around 3.3V. When they get down to 3V most RF remotes stop working.If the battery is below about 3.2V save yourself a lot of heartache and replace it.
