Although this car was brought to me running, once turned off, would only start is pushed or if cranked manually by jumping the starter motor...

Hi. You just solved half of the problem. The Megane II should start only with clutch or brake pressed. What's wrong is the gear sensor that is not reporting neutral position. As you can check on minute 7:30, it says no reverse and not neutral.

Im having a nightmare with my megane II rs225.It's a lottery lately everytime you hit the button whether it starts or not. It started fine twice this morning,third time no start!Called recovery truck to get home,he put a scan took on it and he completely buggered something up,window he put down before he connected scan tool worked correctly,after this windows were dead,steering locked came on the dash,electronic fault then apoeared on dash,then wipers came on constantly,even when they were turned off??and display showed passenger door open,it was shut!! So car is sitting outside in the frost tonight with window wide open and every light coming on the dash. We initially diagnosed starter motor i fitted 3 weeks ago was faulty,which was possible as first new starter i fitted was faulty!! Anyway,think i've finally had enough of it!Megane for sale!!!Megane for sale!!:-)

Ive just had the same problem today with my mk2 megane 225, had to get breakdown truck to bring me home. Car drove to petrol station fine, then button done nothing when i pressed it after getting fuel! No fault codes on my autel ms906, immobiliser light is going out, will do some detective work tomorrow! :-)

Under UCH its showing starting conditions met 'NO', clutch pedal and brake pedal testing is fine, starter button is testing ok. Immobiliser light is going off with ignition on, and immobilser is inactive in Autel. Thing that worries me Autel is showing key card recognised 'NO'?? Although it's recognising 2 cards are programmed to vehicle, and steering is unlocking when card is inserted.? Three weeks ago i programmed a new key card to the car, and since then it's worked perfectly! It's strange this has happened so suddenly, there is no clicking coming from the starter motor,battery is good too.

Hi Yes... one detects the clutch fully pressed, and the other one depressed... apparently is the system used for the cruise control, even though was not fitted on this car... french ideas... lol

Good day i need some advise on our Renault Megane 2 2003 model 1.6L its not cranking or starting when bridging out the starter it cranks but still doesnt start it started doing this while i was driving the engine started cutting out i parked the vehicle and later it didnt even want to crank i have noticed that the fuse box has been worked on before it has some wires mainly for the headlights soldered on to it and the back of the fuse boz the pc board seems like it flashed and burned the rails around the head light fuses on the opposite corner of the pc board is the egnition and the starter solonoid fuses just wondering if it could be this fuse box or is there something else i should look at. Card reader and key seems to be working fine but the car also displays a immobiliser light that stays on when trying to start asswell as the battery light even though the battery is fully charged and brand new

MrBorntoroll I don't know if that is entirely correct... If it was for the cruise control should allow the engine to start... as this car is not even fitted with that option... With or without cruise control, the car needs to see the signal from both sensors... one sensor for the engine module, and the other one for the UCH...that is my understanding of the system... I have a problem with the ignition in megane II (the card does not get it the first time). The best solution would be to dismantle the ignition switch and "repair" or the problem may be elsewhere? Next question. How to remove the ignition switch.

HI . Soldering the wire will break off quick as I fold out. the best way I found, pull out the connectors, push the wire in and wind the wire aroud the terminal and push back in `the terminal. the wire will be quick tight in the plastic connector. JS

Hi I have actually done it kinda that way, with the difference that I have soldered the wires to the back of the terminals, so the soldering point is inside the connector... that prevents the "folding" problem... At the time of this video, the video for "How do I repair damaged wires." was not recorded yet... in there I explain that... I have added the link to that video into the description... I had similar problem, however it came even further - after getting "electronic fault" message, I couldn't stop the engine, no buttons worked etc. After stopping it with brake and clutch, I several times disconnected the battery which ended up in totaly black display and dead car. No reaction at all, not even after change of fuse box, UCH and engine ECU. My fuses were OK, also those on battery + pole were checked by multimeter. However, at the end I decided to disassemble the battery + pole fuses and one of them was wrong. Thus, all my few days efforts and headaches, one fuse was the reason of totally dead car. I hope this helps someone..

Hi bit of a issue with this video as I know these megane you don't need to press both pedals in order to start the engine correct me if I'm wrong you can either press the BRAKE or the clutch you don't need to depressed both so believe u solved half the issue

And think it depends on the variant... some do not have the clutch switch, so you only need to press the brake... but if the clutch switch is fitted, you need to press the clutch... Not sure these manual cars should have any sensors regarding clutch when starting. You should be able to drive with starter motor even. (e.g. with a gear engaged)

I would say the water reached places that should have not get watered...😉 Check grounds and check where the water went... it could have shorted the alternator... just a guess.... Thank you for watching!

Thats a failsafe system..when you select a gear and want to start the car without engaging the clutch the car wont start. Only when you press the clutch pedal the car starts

When it's warmer outside (22 celsius), the car is not responding just like yours, and then after a minute (or a few minutes) it eventually starts.
