A satisfying repair as it must be a nightmare without a fuel gauge! Can't wait for the next video!

My Dad had a 69 R16 as did a friend. Dad's stuck on FULL and had to be replaced, my friend's float developed a leak and sank. He made a new float from part of a turkey baster which lasted for years until the car was rear ended and totaled. I had a 71 and never had an issue with the fuel gauge. Maybe they changed something or I just lucked out.

Yes but is the insulation on the wire you added fuel resistant ? If it's not, the insulation will be melted off and the wire will short to earth and or expose the hole on the flange to air. Like most things, repairing a fuel sender is not that straight forward.
